Toby's Travelling Circus - Episode Guide

Ringmaster Tony sets off on a journey, leaving his circus in the care of Dolores and Toby. Enjoying the new challenge, Toby puts his all into learning the ropes and proves to everyone that he can be a great ringmaster.

A sell-out show demands something special, Momo explains to Toby. He suggests that he use any spare time he has to practise doing something extra for the audience. After trying to find out what he is good at, Toby discovers an old magic trick box in his caravan and opts to perform a rabbit-and-hat trick.

After asking the performers to come up with some spectacular new acts to go into the show that night, Toby ends up being peacemaker when Li and Ling squabble. Then Thor comes up with a great idea for a karate book-chopping trick, but picks the book that Dolores is reading for his act. Luckily, she has a sense of humour!

Freddo would love to sing in the show, but he can't sing in time or in tune. Help is at hand once Clara and Toby realise that it's because Freddo can't count. At the last moment, Clara devises a cueing system using a feather duster and Freddo makes a unique musical contribution to the show.

Toby is proud of his new hat, which has just arrived from the cleaners. Dolores advises him to keep it safe on the costume rail, but it doesn't even get there. Along the way the hat survives various close encounters with Thor, Clara and Freddo but it is eventually flattened by Ling. Oh dear! Toby can't do the show without his new hat!

When Ling has an accident that puts her out of action, Toby picks Freddo to take her place that night. But Freddo is too scared of heights to perform on the trapeze! Who else can Toby get at such short notice? He is at his wits' end when he recalls that his mother was once the main attraction when she was a circus trapeze artist.

When a call comes through saying that the circus vehicles are to have their wheels inspected by an official, Dolores gets Freddo and Clara to tell Toby. Unfortunately, Clara forgets and Freddo's mimes are completely misunderstood, leading to all sorts of mayhem!

Thor is very strong and sure that he can do anything. So when Dolores says she wants him to dance in the show's finale, he agrees. But dancing does not come naturally to him. Everyone tries to teach him a dance but in the end it is only when he is seen stamping the stiffness out of his limbs that Dolores realises what dance he should do - the stomp!

After Dolores does the washing, Toby and Momo hang it on the line to dry. But when Toby goes to collect his costume it's vanished and so have Dolores's bloomers! A search ensues, but will the costumes be discovered before show time?

Dolores makes some banoffee pies and leaves them outside to cool, but a thief takes one! Freddo is put on guard duty but the thief is very clever and steals a couple more. The guilty party is discovered when the pies are found in Toby's new magic cabinet! But who was the sweet-toothed thief?

When three of her balls fall out of her bag after practice, Clara can't find them anywhere. With a show to do that evening, what can Clara juggle with instead? Dolores offers her an orange, Thor gives her a spanner and Jango donates an ocarina. She's already the star of the show with her new act when Freddo finally finds Momo juggling with the missing balls.

When Li and Ling work a diabolo into their act, Momo is fascinated and can't resist trying it for himself. When no one is looking, he throws the spinning top high into the air and waits for it to come down. But the diabolo has vanished. Will the girls discover where it has landed?

Toby decides that tonight's show will be a silent circus to give Dolores time to recover from circus flu. But rehearsing in silence isn't easy, especially for Clara. There are many noisy mishaps but none wake Dolores, until just before the show!

When Dolores's sister Dolly and husband Dennis leave their baby at the circus while they go Christmas shopping, Diddums is only happy in the arms of the robot strongman Thor.

Toby offers to play the tin whistle for Jango to help him learn a new tune, but his practising creates all kinds of confusion.

Thor is dismayed when he accidentally breaks Ling's favourite vase and Freddo's plate. It's been one of those days so he hides himself away to keep out of any more trouble.

After seeing how hard Freddo concentrates while he is balancing custard pies on his fingers, Toby comes up with a splendid idea of how Freddo can conquer his fear of heights.

When some new mats arrive for the helter skelter, Toby is more interested in trying them out than getting ready for the night's performance.

Li ignores all the instructions for assembling and using a German wheel, a new prop for the sisters' act. Freddo does not pay attention while he and Clara are practising.

A replacement is sought after Jango loses his voice. Delores is too loud, Clara forgets the words and the twins squabble about who should sing which parts. All seems lost, until they decide to form a girl band.

Li is sulking in her caravan after an argument with Ling. When Thor brings a new balancing pole for Li, she accidentally knocks the head off Ling's favourite sunflower! Li apologises and the girls make up before going on to perform a fantastic high-wire show.

Clara sets off on foot to catch everyone up, but on the way she meets Farmer Flossy, who sings her a song to cheer her up. Meanwhile, Toby realises that she is missing and sets off with Freddo, Bish Bash and Bosh to find her.

Ling's ribbon gets tied up in knots and she is stuck on the trapeze platform. Toby is a dab hand at undoing knots, but when he rushes to the rescue he freezes halfway up the rope-ladder. Now Toby needs rescuing as well! Luckily, Jango knows just what to do.

When someone steps in wet paint and walks over a new poster, the search is on to find the culprit. Everyone's feet are checked, but finally they realise that it is a stilt print!

Toby is thrilled about his new finale, but he only tells Jango and Thor at first as he needs them to help him set it up. Finally he announces that it is a human cannonball! Li volunteers to be shot out of a cannon, but she has second thoughts when it comes to the night. Will she be brave enough to go through with it?

Thor helps fix up Bash before all three dodgems begin practising their new song with Jango. Meanwhile Dolores starts baking a special cake but her special ingredient has run out!

Clara and Freddo use a sink plunger for their new routine. But when Dolores takes it to unblock her sink, Freddo, Clara and Toby go on a hunt to find it.

It is a very windy day and although Li and Ling go to the village to put up the circus posters, they all get blown away. A pole gets blown over in the lane and so no one can get through.

The arrival of Freddo's identical cousin Franco is the start of a very confusing day for the group. They play a trick on Toby and catch him out with their similarities.

Momo wants to play hide and seek with Toby but Toby has to help Clara and Freddo blow up some balloons for their new act. Toby keeps Momo occupied by giving him a blown up balloon in which Momo names Bob.

Thor gets given a magnet by Toby, in which he keeps in his chest. Throughout the day all things metal keep going missing. Dolores' knives and forks, Li and Lings metal rings and Freddo's hubcaps.

Its an extremely hot day, all the acts are sweltering and are struggling to practice their routines, so Toby gets Thor to build a fan. The fan he builds is made up of Dolores' parasol and the canon.

The Mayor comes to visit the circus and asks to be shown around. That's not all he wants though; he shyly asks to be in a circus act to which Toby responds ecstatically!

Dolores wants to put Momo's teddy in the wash because it smells but Momo likes the smell so he hides the teddy in the canon. Thor is testing the canon for Freddo as he is using it in the show, poor teddy gets shot out of the canon into a field far away.

The morning after a great show Toby realises the audience weren't so great at picking up their litter! The whole circus is left in a mess so the troupe comes together to pick up all the litter in time for the next show. They sing a litter picking song to help motivate them.

Toby is trying to think of a new finale act for the show, Dolores digs out an old toy of Toby's which is a little puppet clown, who looks remarkably like Freddo.

Thor has just finished painting the Helter Skelter. Clara is with Freddo whilst he is juggling some hats, he needs one more to make his act even better and so uses Toby's ringmaster hat.

The truck breaks down whilst the troupe are en route to the next circus town. Toby calls for a mechanic but he wont be able to come for two hours at least! So whilst Dolores waits by the truck the others parade around the town to get people to come to the circus.

Toby discovers a secret pile of scrap metal that Thor has been collecting. Toby persuades him to throw some away, reluctantly Thor agrees but as they start to put stuff into a 'throw away' pile Freddo and Clara come along looking for a new prop for their act.

Its Jango's big drums solo in the show but the circus truck accidentally crushes his drums! Thor offers to fix them, whilst he does Freddo finds some old drums and pretends to be Jango, Toby joins in to make an actual beat.

Toby's shows Dolores how to use their new laptop to video call her sister Dolly and baby Diddums. Whilst everyone is doing his or her chores, Toby discovers a three-person act using the trampoline from the Internet.

The local newspaper photographer, Bill Stills, comes to the circus to take pictures. He goes around the circus taking pictures of everyone but realises later that the pictures didn't work properly!

Everyone wants a new act for the show Freddo and Clara create a funny new spinning balloons and feather act. Li and Ling are trying to come up with a new act with their German Wheel but keep crashing into things whilst using it.

When the rocket ship will not fly and the lights will not work, Thor discovers that the generator is broken. Can they fix it before the show starts?

When Thor finds a barrel full of pirate costumes, it inspires everyone to come up with pirate-themed ideas for the show. Jango makes up a song, Clara and Freddo create an act with a talking parrot, and Li and Ling perform a pirate acrobat act.

Momo creates havoc when he gets tangled up in the string of a yo-yo. However, the mayhem gives Toby an idea to create a new act.

After aliens arrive from Planet Bong to ask the Wise Old Elf to save their hot planet by restoring the plants, everyone heads off in the spaceship.

A new hat inspires Toby to make a new show and everyone creates new acts for it. The bumper cars come up with a new song - but who will dance along to it?

When Dolores has a day off, Toby, Thor and Momo lose all of the props and it becomes a race against time to find them before the show starts.

The bumper cars come up with a song. Everyone except Li and Ling joins in, but when they realise that the audience loves it, they join in too.

Tony, the old circus ringmaster, comes back to town for a visit, bringing with him his new circus partner who has a new routine to teach everyone.

Toby has a wonderful Christmas present planned for Momo but doesn't tell him what it is. Momo keeps asking everyone else, but no one is telling. It is not until show time that Toby reveals his surprise present - something that Momo has always wanted!
