The story follows María Liz, a hardworking nurse living in a poor neighborhood in Mexico City. She supports her boyfriend, Marcelo, who is studying engineering but is secretly selfish and ambitious. María Liz's life changes when she meets Sebastián, a wealthy civil engineer who despises the superficial world of his mother, Doña Lucrecia.
