Writers and Directors are listed under the "Guest Crew" tab as they vary from episode to episode. The listings under the "Crew Appearances" tab is for the folks that work every episode regardless of who wrote or directed it.
Ahh okay, did not think of that since the writer I was wanting to add worked for the series off and on for 27 years. Thanks much. I have not done much with that selection until now.

Yes indeed, some shows do have one director/writer for their entirety, however most shows do have more than just one, so it is better to list them at episode level instead of main crew.
I think it is a good idea for most shows to change writers/directors. Unless you have someone who is really good, JMS on Babylon 5 is a good example of someone good who can stick to their ideas and get them pushed through to keep the good quality of the overall story up to what it should be.
