Yeah, i had read the blog, Jan. That doesn't answer my question. That is actually so vague that is why I asked specifically if you're becoming a walled website (it certainly looks like that for the API, but don't use it, don't really care and i understand how much traffic that thing has so i'm not even disputing the reason to make it a paid service though others might). I'm asking because "currently available" implies that after a certain date it won't be, that's my issue with the wording, that's why i asked if it was just bad phrasing.
So to be more specific :
Will episode lists, guests, main cast still be visible if you don't pay?
So in other words, what would an unlogged visitor see after september 26 ? I'm not attacking, just want a clarification.
I had zero question about premium, i had question about free tvmaze, quite the opposite.

Of course all the lists, guest cast, main cast will all be visible, you will see exactly the same as you are seeing now, premium users will additionally see the premium features :)

"Everything currently available on TVmaze will always remain free" means that every part of the site that exists today, will still exist for free on September 26th. The same goes for the API. Premium only introduces new functionality, it doesn't take away anything that already existed.

We'll take your word for it. ;)

Obviously, it is a natural direction to bring this model and I support it even if I don't apply yet. My only concern is that I came to TVMaze from another website that went this way but slowly the owner grew an attitude and used some trickery popups that blocked some pages and old features for the non-premiums.

The new features were barely worth mentioning (except for the fanboys always in awe) and at the end, non-premium users were just told to pay or suck it.

I hope that TVMaze stays as cool as it is and I wish it a big success on its Premium model.

Cheers!

The difference here is that when you buy your subcription you have direct influence on what features are implemented - whether that's a free feature or premium feature, or a premium feature that then becomes free. Believe me between the two owners and the rest of the staff I can assure you that there is no concerns about anyone developing such a negative attitude. Everything that will happen has been laid out in the blog post here: http://www.tvmaze.com/blogs/14/announcing-tvmaze-premium

I just signed up and paid for Silver. All I got at the end was "A big Thank you from everyone at TVmaze" but I would have rather received a confirmation # that my payment was processed like all the sites do when you pay a bill?

Oh yeah one more thing at checkout I did not even see a way to put in a Promo Code or I'm sure it would have asked me if I had one at least?

I'm very glad this site exists and is as well maintained as it is. It takes away some of the sting of losing LocateTV. A premium subscription would be a convenient way to support you ... but I'm still torn. One feature I really need is still missing: being alerted of airings of any specified episodes of followed series, not just of new episodes. If you had that, I'd be a daily visitor. I've asked about this before but wasn't given much hope of it ever happening. Has there been any change on your thinking? If I knew you were actively working to implement this feature, I'd sign up immediately. Otherwise, TVmaze is only occasionally useful to me and I don't see my usage increasing.

I'll just be honest. Adding support for alternate airdates - premiere airdates in foreign countries - could happen, especially if enough Gold members ask for it. But tracking every single time an episode is reran is unlikely to happen.

A popular episode, say The Simpsons season 1, is likely to have thousands of airings if you count every rerun throughout the world since it premiered 16 years ago. It's simply not feasible to maintain the data on such a scale. Also, we believe such a feature would be irrelevant within a couple of years when the majority of viewings will be on-demand.

+1 to not doing this. It's a HUGE undertaking to serve not that many users and I agree that it will be irrelevant in 2 years or less.

OK. Are you saying your web site will be irrelevant in a couple of years? I wonder how LocateTV did it.

Just as an example of what I mean: Modern Marvels, s01e05, "Ocean Liners". Say I've been looking for that (and many other episodes of the series) for YEARS. "Ocean Liners" was rebroadcast on 1/21/2016 and I was able to record it because I was alerted by LocateTV. Unfortunately an untimely Windows update made it unwatchable. If/when it airs again, I'd like to try again to record it. If it were you, how would you accomplish this? And, in a couple of years, are you expect ALL the episodes of Modern Marvels, back to 1995, will be available "on demand"?

I'd probably buy the episode from https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Marvels-Volume-1/dp/B00B6YGH9M or so :-)

Anyhow, I never said that there's no use case for the feature you describe, just that it would require so much resources that it's impossible for us to provide.

Looking at http://www.history.com/shows/modern-marvels and http://www.history.com/full-access, it seems like a large amount of these episodes (328 of them) are available on demand for free already. I don't think it's very far fetched that a few years from now it'll be the case for 100% of them.

OK, can I assume all questions, comments etc. that relate to Premium be posted in this Forum or are you planning on setting up special separate threads?

Anyways, I looked at the new weekly Calendar and realize it is just a glimpse but I have a few questions concerning it please?

1. I see the Network "Dave" listed and I have no clue what Country that Network airs in not in the U.S. so my first question would be will it have a Country or a Country Flag on those so we know what Country the Network is we are looking at? I would rather have a sort feature so I could Sort by Country or better yet a "Show Only Country" feature so I could select only U.S. Networks?

2. Will this show all Networks that we currently see on the daily TV schedule listing or just Major ones?

3. Will this be for the same time periods as the daily TV schedule listing like from 5 PM to 2 AM?

4. I wanted to post in the thread that I Voted YES to on this subject but those are not allowing responses. Maybe once a Voted on idea is made available it should be changed to then allow questions relevant to that item?

Thanks for reading my questions, Ron.

Feel free to ask here, but we'll switch to a separate thread if there's a lot of talk about a specific topic.

The filtering for the weekly calendar works identical to the monthly calendar: it's primarily used to get a calendar with all your favorite shows (e.g. the shows that you're following). It's possible to set the calendar to "Most Popular Shows", but it's not possible to show everything that airs during that week, because that would be so much episodes that it'd probably crash your browser.

1. Adding a country flag next to the network sounds like a good idea, let's look into that.

2. Shows from any network can be listed in the calendar - provided that either you're following the show or that it's one of our most popular shows.

3. There's no time limit, everything airing that day is listed.

4. It's not possible to reply in the Pending Features forum, but feel free to create a new thread instead if you have additional feedback.
