Allowing links in Bios

Have you considered allowing internal links in character bios and other descriptive texts (ex. show descriptions), so that the user can jump easily to other characters or shows?

It is not essential, but it is informative and adds value to the site in general.

Hi megs, thanks for the suggestion.

What you're describing sounds like it would duplicate already existing links on the pages. F.e. character links can be found in the appearances. And references for characters played by a person can be found in the credits.

To me it seems like allowing links in bios is prone to abuse and we'd have to spend more effort monitoring contributions.
Doubtful we'd add this functionality as plain links for various reasons.

cheers,

Jan

They probably wouldn't be abusive if they were limited to internal only. Whether it can be coded that way or not is another question.

There might be some use in putting a link directly in Stephen Amell's bio saying, "They're best known as Oliver Queen in Arrow" or somesuch, and having a link to Arrow. Less scrolling down to the show list section, and the show might not always be at the top since the show appearances are rated by... popularity of show, right?

The issue is whether you consider "best knowns" valid bio info. They usually mean "They're what I know them best for." Also, sometimes they have a statute of limitations. Richard Dean Anderson was probably best known for MacGyver, until Stargate SG-1 came out.

I'm not sure what else you would use them for. Linking to another actor in the bio like a spouse, child, or parent, perhaps.

I was thinking exactly in the lines Gadfly discibed. Anyway, thank you for considering.
