Endeavour Series 4 Episode 1 cast question

tnt wrote 8 years ago: 1

I just wondering, how the difference between Guest Cast / Co-Starring was made in this episode? Maybe some press-release or something?

There's some separation in the on-screen credits, some actors credited only at the end roll, and some credited at the end and at the beginning of the episode as well. But the guest cast at the episode page is separated differently (looks random to me, some significant characters was put in the co-star list).

Actually there's never was a co-stars in the previous episodes (because there's no co-stars in the credits), the listing was always done pretty much the same, guest stars only. Why is it different this time?

you can correct it, as you saw the episode :)

Just wanted to be sure in case I've missed something, because I've watched episode at VOD, not in air.

I added all the characters credited in the opening as co-stars if they aren't actual show stars. Guest stars I added from the end credits. Obviously those credited at the start needed some sort of differing accreditation then those only listed at the ending.

Juan has spoken to me about this and any cast credited in the opening credits need to be added as show stars even if they only appear in this one episode, will fix this now :)

That's what I thought, but actually some of them was listed as guest stars, and some as co-stars. That's why I've started this topic. And there's no unique names at the opening, all those names are repeated at the end credits.

In this case isn't it more logical to list people from the openining as guest stars (except main cast, of course), and the people listed only at the end as co-stars? Guest star is more significant, than a co-star, right?

Anyway, it's a bit complicated imho. Why not just list all of them as guests? Except main cast of course. As in all previous episodes...

Actually there's some exceptions exists. TWD, for example.

We like to stick to official and explicit sources as much as possible. So if any of the official sources for a show specifies who's Main Cast and who's Guest Cast, that should be used.

If that information isn't available anywhere, our de facto policy for UK shows has been to follow the BBC standards (https://downloads.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/site/Opening_and_closing_Credits.pdf): opening credits means Main Cast, (only) in the closing credits means Guest Cast. To avoid confusion in the future, I'll add that to the policy as well.

Ok, then all previous episodes needs to be reworked as well...

Thanks for the document and for clarification on the matter.
