I am never able to get my email "confirmed"

TvHarmony wrote 8 years ago: 1

When I visit here, I periodically get a warning that my email is not confirmed and that it should be confirmed to avoid data deletion (or similar wording). I have clicked to send the confirmation email many times over several months.

And just tonight clicked the initial alert warning, which generated a hopeful response of "A confirmation link has been sent to your email address."

And I clicked again on the "(unconfirmed!)" in my user Dashboard tonight.

But no mail ever comes to either my Inbox nor my Spam Junk mailbox. I have checked the email account on the web -- nothing from you guys. Note that I get lots -- tons actually -- of emails to my listed email address, so it is a live, working address.

So, while this may not be a 'bug' on the site per se, it is an aspect of the TV Maze web site which is not working for me.

Just to let you all know, and to hopefully prevent my User ID from being deleted.

Thank you. Best,

TvHarmony.

Your user ID won't be deleted because of this, do not worry. David or jan will look into this and reply here :)

Thanks for checking into it. Best.

Thanks for looking into that David.

Changing email providers is really inconvenient... Though I do have other emails, but hardly ever check them.

If you could manually confirm me email, that would be super.

I looked at the thread. And I too am on SBCGLOBAL.NET (now part of the re -acquired AT&T, lot of good that monopoly break-up did...)

One thing that may be worth checking, I do maintenance work on a non-profit web site, and a recent version of the membership front end database program had a glitch which caused emails to be sent in a slightly non-conforming way. The email header was not being sent as Plain ASCII, but had some other UTF-8 character(s) in it (and Plain ASCII is a spec requirement). That was sufficient for ATT to block all emails from our web site. Didn't get fixed until three steps: I filed an explanation and complaint to ATT (as the website manager) requesting it not be blocked, the web hosting service filed a similar report and request from their tech staff, and I upgraded to a newer release of the database program which had fixed the bug, and ensured that the Header of the Emails were Plain ASCII.

Perhaps something similar is going on on your site. Or maybe not... just a thought.

If you could manually confirm me email, that would be super.

Best, TvHarmony.

Thanks for the feedback; we ran our template through multiple validators but I'll check again just to be sure.

There's no functionality to manually confirm email addresses, so there's nothing more I can do for you for the time being.

Oh. OK. Thanks for checking.

You could just try again every now and then, maybe it'll work better by now.
