Schedule Gaps

So, I've just recently discovered TVMaze and am exploring its features. Really excited about the API! However, I'm wondering about the "gaps" in the schedule. Today, May 8, 2017, for example the schedule shows nothing for Fox nor CW at 10pm EST, AMC is airing nothing until 10pm, TBS nothing until 10:30pm, the same for ESPN, Fox News, NGC, etc... There are many more.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to fill in these gaps?

Thanks

If there is nothing showing for a particular time slot, there are reasons:

1. Nobody has filled in the information Yet. This is an open edit site. Nothing added here is automatic. It fully relies on all information being added by th eusers.

2. The network in question isn't showing anything new. TVmaze only tracks the global premiere of episodes. So. If something has aired in the UK previously, it would not show in the US schedule. This also applies to reruns. Same applies the other way round.

Welcome to the site. Hope you enjoy it :)

Thanks for the reply. The points you laid out were not made clear on the site. In fact, the claim of being an "accurate and comprehensive TV Guide" could be disputed with what you've told me.

My next question would be, how does one become a contributor to the listings?

Anyone that signs up can contribute. You do that by clicking the green pencil icon on the main page of the item, or the Edit button at the bottom of a page.

Some things like creating networks can't be done by normal contributors (see here for more info), so you can post that in the edit requests thread.

For new shows, you can request them here: http://www.tvmaze.com/request

For TheCW at least they do not have programming at 10:00EST. They only schedule a two hour block Monday through Friday. Also if the network is airing reruns, those won't appear as we only list first run episodes.
