Maybe it'd be good to include a short explanation in the pending deletion banner? So people will see the reason, why the show is deleted.
Also maybe add the option for immediate delete (e.g. for the fresh created duplicates or the shows with no information, so they wouldn't be an eyesore for a week)?
The first part I agree with.
The second seems a bit counter-productive as it gives people enough time to argue that it's not a duplicate, etc - Who's to say that someone wouldn't immediately delete a show and it turns out that it wasn't a duplicate, but no-one was given the chance to explain it.

If the fact, that the show is duplicate, was established after a discussion between staff members, there's nothing to argue about. Pending deletion IMO should be an option, not an imperative.
I think waiting a week is a feature in almost every case. Adding a reason (for all edits, not just for deletions) is on the wish list for one day :)
