List of suggestions

Just switched over to this site and there's a few features I'd love to see added.

1. Option to rate shows from "Seasons"/"Episodes" page - right now you need to go to the individual episode to rate and/or see the rating for each TV episode. Considering how many shows may be in a single season, it's very tedious to do, especially if you've seen the season and want to rate each one at once.

2. Watchlist should be a tab, not in the drop down menu - the watchlist is probably one of the most important things on the site, so it's a little strange you only find it in the drop down menu. I'm not entirely clear on what the purpose is for the "Shows" tab right now. Is it for search? But the search bar is already at the top of the site.

3. Episode page - right now the "Watchlist" just shows three recent episodes. That's helpful if you just want to see what to watch. But what if you just want to get a list of just the shows? Right now, it's a bit unweildly.

4. Show ratings - would love to be able to rate shows and maybe easily see the rating on a shows page. It would help to quickly see what your favorite shows are quickly.

5. Average episode ratings - not sure how complicated it would be to do this, but would love to have the ability to see your average rating for a season. It would quickly calculate how much you liked a season. I'd find that info very useful.

6. Archive/folders/tags for shows - this has already been suggested, but adding to the people who really want this feature. Right now the calendar is full of shows that I haven't watched in years but want to store episode ratings and what I've seen, without "following" them.

Hi Mike,

Those are some really good suggestions. We still need to discuss some of these internally but here are my first thoughts about your points.

1. This seems like a very good suggestion that would improve usability.

2.a The placement of the watchlist could indeed be improved on. We recently placed it in the user submenu which is a level higher than the previous location. As the watchlist gains more popularity, we will reconsider placing it somewhere even easier to reach.

2.b The shows tab displays a list of the most popular shows in our database. The order is based on a set of criteria such as ratings and amount of users following and visiting the show.

3. Viewing the full episode watchlist is already possible and accessible from the view all >> link under the list you mentioned.
For just viewing the shows without the episodes. This seems like something to consider adding to a watchlist filter.

4. David actually wanted to implement this last week but I didn't add it to the design yet. :) It's only a matter of time until it is added.

5. Adding this to other personal watchlist stats could be useful.

6. Being able to select what shows on the calendar based on filters/tags would probably resolve the issue you're mentioning.I see you also commented on the other thread as well. :)

Tnx for the suggestions. It's the best way to know what needs to be developed/added.

cheers,

Jan

Thanks for your detailed suggestions! Jan's already addressed the most of it, but here's my few cents.

1. I don't think we should add this to the regular episode list page, because I want to keep that one as clean as possible. Using the season page for this could be interesting though.

3. I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. If you want to see a list of shows you're following without the episodes, you can do this from your profile.

6. I understand that more granularity in your followed shows would be useful, but you don't actually need to follow a show to use the rating and watched functionality. If you're no longer actively following a show, simply unfollow it and it will stop showing up in your watchlist and calendar, but the watched statuses and ratings will of course be preserved and visible on the episode list / episode pages.

I'm missing the archive function like it was on mytvshows.org.

So you can archive all the shows which aren't running anymore. So you can see which of the shows you're following are still running and which not.

Hi Norior,

That's a fair request. We will be expanding the dashboard to facilitate checking which of your shows are still running and which ones have ended. You should follow this thread to get a notification of when it has been added.

Also feel free to make new threads with more detailed descriptions of your requests.

best regards,

Jan

Created this thread to track these requests: http://www.tvmaze.com/threads/131/bulk-rating-episodes
