FLCL anime

I think separate thread would be better than edit requests thread.

So, https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/2772/flcl

At first, why do we have it the way we have it? I mean linked to Adult Swim, with US airdates. It's a Japanese series, right? And AS airing a dubbed version. But the policy explicitly do not allow subtitled or dubbed versions of the show. Does it mean, that we couldn't have both original and dubbed, or we couldn't have dubbed versions at all?
Also, in the cast section we have only dubbing actors, which is also against the policy. Only Cast members for the original show version should be added. For example, if the Show is originally Japanese, voice actors that worked on the English dubbed version should not be added.

The next question: there's two new seasons were announced, seasons 2 (in June) and 3 (in September). Apparently as a April Fools' joke, episode 1 from season 3 was aired today (April 1st). But the rest of episodes are supposed to be aired as scheduled, i.e the next episode would be season 2 episode 1 etc. So, should we just ignore this episode, or add it without an airdate?

When you say original I assume that means it aired somewhere else than Adult Swim first ?

As for dubbing I don't think we should list those at all as it'd turn into a gigantic mess, it's not just "foreign" shows that gets dubbed to english, it's the other way around too.

As and example pretty much every kid show on Netflix have regional dubbing with named voice actors.

Well, I suppose a Japanese series should be released in Japan at some point, right? :)

From what I could tell, the first season was released as OVA in Japan, and broadcasted on Adult Swim years later, and the two upcoming seasons are made in co-production with Adult Swim. My Japanese is a bit rusty :D, but it seems that both second and third seasons will be released each as a single theatrical movie in Japan in September.

But I suppose the original language of the series is Japanese, not English, so there shouldn't be a non-japanese actors in the cast. And what to do with this "joke"?

The problem is, if it is co-produced by Adult Swim, who can tell us what the original language version is? As this is animation, we only have voice actors. For me it seems there are two legit versions, the Japanese one and the American one.

The country of origin is Japan, this is where the show is physically produced by Tokyo-based Production I.G. English version is localized.

FLCL 2 and 3 will air dubbed on Adult Swim's Toonami and simulcasted with subs on Adult Swim's streaming platform, DeMarco said.

Jason DeMarco is the guy in charge of Toonami, Adult Swim's animation block where the show is aired.

Ok, then we should only use the Japanese voice actors :)

Yeah, this one is obvious :)

But what about this early premiered episode?

In regards to the original FLCL, I believe it was only sold on DVD in Japan and was never actually broadcast until Adult Swim obtained the rights to it.

Season 2 and 3 will be a single theatrical movie for each in Japan and 6 episode series each for Adult Swim.

In regards to the April Fool's day airing - which AS did previously for Rick & Morty, I'm not too sure what to do about it.

Yeah, but it was much easier with Rick and Morty, they just aired the first episode of the upcoming season couple months earlier. But in this case they aired episode from season 3 way ahead of season 2...

Actually, assuming that episode was aired without a voice dubbing, I think they're gonna be airing it again, dubbed, with the rest of the season in September. So my choice would be to simply forget about this "joke" :)
