"This entry already existed in the past" lock not working

No, it have nothing to do with you :)

According to edit log, two regular users managed to re-create the episode, after it was deleted first by me, then by momijigari.

And BTW, you could've just read the edit wiki :D

It wasn't working in this case because the empty season 4 is deleted. This means the episode is re-added to a whole new season entry, and despite the season number being equal this causes the lock not to trigger.

Yeah, I though something like that happened. But it shouldn't, right? This case is not unique...

It's not like this on purpose, but for technical reasons that can't easily be changed.
