Characters Main/Guest switch will lead to duplicate entries with total count

Just noticed something on TMITHC:
The character Mark Sampson used to be a recurring guest character but now is a main character in the latest season.
The character shows up twice on the Characters page, but the number of appearances shown under the name is identical:
It's the total number of appearances both times.

While all of this technically isn't wrong, it feels wrong.
Not sure if that guest character entry is really still needed if the character is already listed under main characters.
If listing twice, not sure if the counter should show the total appearances as opposed to just appearances in this category.

Thoughts?

I get ya. It would be good if the system broke down the number of appearances by the type of appearance. It would be really great if the top Appearances had the overall total appearances with the later, by type listing gave the appearance numbers per type.

I don't think it makes sense to list characters more than once on that page.

Proposal:
- On the "Characters" page, a character who at any time was a main character, will be listed as such (like now) but not also be shown as as recurring character
- Appearances shown will be the total appearances of that character (like now)
- Sorting however (for the position) will only take into account the appearances as a main character

For my example from above, the character will be listed as a main character, with 9 appearances counting towards his list position.
Which would move him one spot down.

I'll move this thread to suggestions. I understand your reasoning and changing this might make sense, but I wouldn't say it's invalid enough to be considered a bug. :)
