Hi I’m trying to save an article so I don’t lose the whole thing but it keeps coming up with an error message. Please help.
All good it seems to have fixed itself. I’m just going to save it more often so I don’t lose anything.
As you've said it seems to be resolved now so no further action necessary.
However if you do get it again, please can you post the actual error message that you're getting.
I actually think it might be an issue with the embed of video because as soon as I put an embed video on the article it came up with the error message.
it says Error Oh Snap! An error occurred. Cause unknown if the error persists, please notify us. It seems the issue is intermittent. Sometimes the article will save with no problem then other times the error message comes up.
I just tried to update it (both adding just text and text + embed videos) and I get the same error.
Right, I see what's going on. The explanation might be a bit too technical, but the cause is that we don't support 4-byte UTF-8 strings, only up to 3-byte. This is a conscious choice for most parts of the site since we don't want nonsense 4-byte UTF characters in summaries/etc anyway so it's not worth the performance/storage overhead, but I suppose for articles this could be useful to allow. Will look into this!
For the time being, if you are consciously using¨"weird" characters (like fancy emoticons) see if refraining from that resolves the problem. If you're not, perhaps you are copy & pasting from a source that introduces weird formatting quirks?
Let me guess, Bob (Heart) Abishola strikes again. Seriously, I think the media in general are ready to lynch CBS for that stupid decision.
Hrm. I wonder what the issue is then - in this case, I don't think we had any special weird characters (beyond one French accent late in the piece). But weird formatting might have been introduced from our word editors.
Basically, we worked on our parts and emailed them to each other over Gmail, then I compiled them in Word. Tim used Pages to add in all of the hyperlinks (since the TVMaze editor does not auto-save, we have both had some frustrating formatting experiences). He then sent them back as a .pages file, which I converted back to .doc.
Perhaps one of these steps introduced something odd?
NO I LIED it was a special emoticon that looks like the number 100, whoops. My bad.

hehe :)
As I've noted to LadyShelley a couple of times, video inserting has never worked for me. The video just... disappears when you save it.
Is it related?
I thinks it’s a seperate issue because our issue is related to special characters whereas your issue is related to embed video. To embed a video you need to go to Youtube and go to share and then click embed. Then copy the code into the video embed section when your writing an article. I’ve noticed the embed option only comes up if your using a computer not an iPad or phone. If you need a hand feel free to message me.
Indeed, these two things can't be related; and video embedding from Youtube and Vimeo should work fine.
It should work fine, but... it doesn't. Have you tried going into my account and checking by creating an article with video?
TimDavidCasey: I'll give it a try. Seems a bit complicated and not what is advertised, but whatever works. Thanks!

I sent you instructions with pictures a few weeks ago. Did you get that email? If not, I can send it again.
