Edit Requests

Another pair of episodes that should be one is parts One and Two of the Firefly episode "Serenity".

And speaking of which, I noticed the film Serenity is in the episode list as a special. Should it be here? Because when I say "film," I mean theatrical film. I couldn't find anything about adding such releases to the guides, so I guess that this is foremost a question and a request for removal if that answer is "no."

We are currently working on wording the policy about Specials. Films that are tied to the show are allowed to be listed as specials :)

Did Serenity air as ONE episode without a break and without new credits back on tv then ? it does not matter how it is released on DVD or Blu-ray, only the tv broadcast is important for the listing. It was such a long time ago, that I do not recall if it was one ep or two eps.

cheers

I honestly have no idea, as I didn't get into the series until the film came out, so I certainly didn't catch it. It seems to always be referred to as a two-parter, but I can find nothing to substantiate this. I even checked on Hulu because they still have Buffy's "Bargaining" episode as two videos, but it's there as a single episode, so that weighs in favour of the single-episode argument. That and they share the same airdate.

And I believe this highlights a fundamental flaw in the "only as it broadcast" rule of thumb. Who the hell has access to the original airing? Seriously. It would certainly making editing difficult if it did air in halves and with different credits. It's why when I got editorship of Battlestar Galactica at TVRage I ultimately decided to merge the miniseries because I only had the DVD with it as a single episode (well, film, given the length) and I didn't want to copy and past credits for both halves when I know some of those actors weren't in both halves. So, if nothing else, it's simplistic, and given that they definitely aired the same night, I don't think it's worth splitting hairs in this case. Back to Battlestar Galactica as an example: I recall the first two episodes of Season 3 aired as a single episode, complete with a single host of credits. It was split into two on DVD with their own credits for a reason. I understand that was different as they both had different titles, but it still serves as an example to make my case. I know I'm more than likely on the losing side of this argument and I'm used to that, but I remain vocally against it.

I had something to say about Specials, but I don't want to drag this off-topic (more than I likely already have). It's good to know about inclusion of films, though.

I like to wait for david, jan and thomas on this, what we do with two parters, where no one really recalls anymore how they aired on tv :)
