Vancouver Production To Restart As British Columbia Unions Reach Agreements With U.S. Studios, Including Sony Pictures TV & Disney TV Studios

Vancouver is open for business. We hear that the impasse between U.S. studios and the British Columbia unions over safety protocols is starting to get resolved, with the local unions clearing a number of TV series to begin production there.

One of the first to get a green light was The Good Doctor, we hear, after its lead studio Sony Pictures TV made a deal with the BC Council of Film Unions, made up of IATSE, Teamsters and International Cinematographers Guild locals, and various actors’ unions.

The ban on American visitors coming into Canada has been extended again to September 21st. Given polling at 80%+ who want the ban extended until sometime in 2021 it is very likely the border will remain semi-closed for many months. Much like the people who have come to play/cover the NHL playoffs, I'm sure strict protocols will be in place to ensure no one is importing the virus into Canada where we have it relatively under control vs the USA where it is running rampant and out of control with no hope for better times until January 20th, 2021.
