Possible Error on Cast Listing

PretenderCentre wrote 4 years ago: 1

Hi, there is a contradiction in the cast lists for the pilor of Resident Alien

https://www.tvmaze.com/episodes/1974915/resident-alien-1x01-pilot

Jason Maybaum

as

Max Hawthorne

is listed in the main cast and then

Judah Prehn

as

Max Hawthorne

as guest cast

I believe that Judah Prehn is the correct listing.

Cheers :)

I wonder, what information source did you use to "fix" that???

Maybaum either voiced him or played Max in some scenes, it is not clear yet. But he is definitely credited in the episode, and there was no other characters named Max. Also, there's this https://youtu.be/668Y3LaOXWs?t=190

Would you please stop messing with the work of ranked contributors based solely on the words of the users with zero edits, without checking yourself or asking @RoseRed first, if you're too busy? This is very impolite and frustrating.

Of course I checked the main credits while watching the episode and Judah Prehn was listed there. I was assuming then that Maybaum was replaced by him. You also should stop assuming that I did not check it, I did, as I am watching the show.

You could've at least move him to 'Credits only', instead of deleting. Or just ask the original contributor, who obviously knew what they doing.

rosered will not kill me for this :)  Also as I watched the episode, I did not recognize that the character was played by a complete different actor at any time, maybe the credit is just a mistake by the production company?

If onscreen credits is the number one source we follow, we should at least list him as 'Credit Only'. I noted it when I did it, but I couldn't ignore the credit right there in black and white.

That's not the point. I'm sure no one likes it when someone starts to mingle with the shows they follow and edit thoroughly, without heads-up at least. For me, that's the thing that sometimes makes me think of just stopping contributing.

I suppose you know, that this is extremely rare with guest cast credits. Among many hundreds of episodes I've edited, I've seen that maybe two-three times tops. Yes, I suppose Max was re-casted after the original pilot, but I would definitely leave the original actor as 'Credit only' because a) he's credited; b) we have such possibility; c) I'm not 100% sure that he doesn't appear in episode at all. They could've re-used some footage from the pilot, where he's present at the back or something, or used his voice in the edit.
I think Maybaun should be added back, at least as 'Credit only'.
