People profile AKAs

@MAT13 recently asked for Penn & Teller to be deleted as an aka from both individuals pages even though professionally that is the name of their act. Surely since they would normally be only credited under the name of their double act, we either credit them as the double act only and they dont have individual profiles (which I dont think would be the ideal solution) or the aka should be allowed to stay.

Another example would be Torvill & Dean, neither are known by their first names as their skating act was always known by Torvill & Dean. How would a user be able to find that that these are the correct people if the aka wasnt added?

I agreed with MAT13 as I find it a bit odd to have a name of an act added as an aka of a single individual, pretty curious what others are saying about this. :)

I think it should be removed.

What makes the most sense to me would be better to create a Penn & Teller group then credit that group when they're together and as themselves when they're not together.

Besides being odd (subjectively), what problem could cause having such AKA, as long as the person is associated with the name?
What about collective pen names? Each of the writers is associated with it, isn't it?

I second this. I've always found it pretty odd when people have group names etc listed as an aka.

Exactly what I am getting at. Some people would be completely undetectable without their "performance" names added.

I believe I was told to add the akas to the group of writers known as Man of Action when i added their credits to the shows they worked on.

We got three suggestions now:

keeping the aka removed

adding the aka again

creating a "penn & teller" group

a) That feels wrong, as the person already having an established profile would not even be found via the credited group name.
b) I would. Both have a profile and personal credits but are sometimes credited together.
c) Doesn't seem necessary or useful in this particular case as the reference between the person profiles and episodes would be lost.
I see this more for when bands are credited and there is no personal profile (and single person screen time) or where it's done on purpose like with the collective pen name mentioned above.

I'm actually with @TomSouthwell on this one to keep their stage name as an AKA too. An AKA is meant to find a person more easily with a name he is known.... If he is more commonly known as a DUO, it does make sense to me to use his act name too to avoid any duplicates.
