The site AD's are getting more and more intrusive by the day!

Speaking of video problems, I don't understand most of the things all of you guys have been talking about or most of anything at all releated to the Internet for that matter but I was having all kinds of problems for about 3 months earlier this year with videos coming up for no reason and then whatever site I was on would slow way down until it froze up then crash.
Somehow I found out by accident that it was either a plug-in or something that runs, controls videos just disappeared off of my PC and I had no more problems. Whatever it is my PC still needs it put back on to view videos at a lot of different sites but I decided not to try and figure it out because I would rather not be able to see videos then to have PC problems?

so im wondering. have u seen this same ad anywhere on the site by any chance. the green 'futon critic' one that plays a video?

just trying to narrow it down to see if its just me. if I'm not the only one who sees this ad, it can't just be me right?

Did you follow the instructions to upload an image that you had print screened and saved as a jpg using paint or any other image program you use and try the method. Print screen is a copy, you need to paste it somewhere.
Firefox, IE or chrome use addons, you don't need to go to download.com. Just go to their services. either google store, addons for firefox and i have no idea for IE cause i have not use that in ages, plus it's being replaced by Edge with Win 10. Google Plus has nothing to do with anything... it's just a service by Google, the search engine.
Which version of Firefox, what OS are you on. You should have no problem with FF if you have the latest one and are on Win 7 or higher. if you do, just do a complete uninstall. And there are tutorials that will explain everything. If you're using Win Xp or something even older, i'd advise a new computer if you can buy one.

I assume you are not talking to me as I have no clue what any of that is you were talking about? So if you could please Tonks do me and anyone else who may wonder in please a huge favor and at lease copy the person's name/username so we know for sure who you be talking to I would much appreciate it please?

I could not say for sure bungle as I do not know what green thing you could be referring to? Based on not enough information for me to go on I would have to say most likely not but I do not see any videos at all at futoncritic anymore amoung a few other sites.

to clarify, its the green one shown in these two images below:

http://tinyurl.com/ovwhboe

and

http://tinyurl.com/nqsyhce

but it was a silly question. of course you wouldn't see them with adblock running, my bad lol

Jag, clearly it was for you. Noone else said their FF was crashing. Noone has any problems uploading an image to show it. Read slowly, and if you still don't get it, I'm sorry.

But when you have such problems on any computer, you do a few things 1. you search for malware : spybot is a good program to download (on cnet or download.com) and let it do the work and follow instructions

if that doesn't help you uninstall everything of no import. You use a program call "REVO Uninstaller"

You completely uninstall programs like IE, chrome or firefox, for that you need a program that does a full uninstall which means if you don't save your favorites sites or bookmarks, you'll lose those before hand. But since you won't get any of this either, we can't help you. I'd really advise to find someone around you who knows computers to help you out if you have so many problems.

But yeah my advice first would be to find someone in your entourage that can do it for you.

thanks for confirming this is a site issue and not just me, i'll send a bug report.

They know of it. I'm not sure if it's intentional or not.

Bungle, i tried to reiterate your problem but i'm in Europe, i couldn't get the futon critic ad but on futon ctiric have had that problem with videos starting without my adblock on.

Thanks Tonks and no need to apologize I'm the one that has no clue what you are talking about? Reading slowly or slower doesn't help me one bit and I also have no clue what FF stands for "Fast Forward" or "Fantastic Four" or "Fickle Finger of Fate Award" (from Laugh-In? Honestly I'm not trying to be a wise A, I just don't understand these kinds of things, never have and never will. Let me give you a reason to believe me how dumb I am about these kinds of things

I was most likely one of the last people/person to ever buy a cell phone about maybe 8 to 10 years after everyone else as I still had a pager. When I finally got one and still up to today I make and receive calls. I never figured out how to access the Internet, send or receive messages, download an app or anything else.

I have heard of

IPhones

IPads

IPods

Tablets

and a few hundred other electonic gizmos but no clue what they are or what they can do and have no reason to learn?

oh ok. I guess they will fix it in time..

also thanks for trying to replicate the problem. I've seen similar video-based ads on other sites but they just sit there doing there own thing, never eating this much cpu and lagging my browser like this. also the 'only secure content is displayed' message I'm getting is only when this one ad gets displayed so the two must be tied I guess.

ps. I'm in Europe too ;)

Jaguar, you can use adblock plus, it's your choice. I'm just telling you what is happening with adblock or edge. Ublock is the new iteration of the same thing. If you use Firefox, go to their addons. You choose the latest one. Adblock is always going to win, it's the oldest, it's not doing it's work properly, some ads go through.
https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/search/?q=ub...

I think the reason you don't get the image is that you aren't using the image URL and maybe just image view URL. Look from where the image displayed is being retrieved from in the code.

It will look something like this: [img src="http://xxxxxx.com" alt="x"]. That's how you get the source. If you don't like sifting through the code, just look at the img url in the properties.

It works, Ive added almost all the images like that.

If the bug you are referring to is the Image URL one, then it works fine for me. I think you are making a mistake in the link you paste in the URL field.

FF = firefox. It's also in the context of the discussion. I wouldn't have used it otherwise.

Google Plus is a package of services provided by the company called Google. It enables you to use a lot of things including gmail via login. You don't have to use google plus to use Google Chrome which is a browser. You don't have to use google plus to use gmail, or youtube or whatever other service is owned by Google.

I asked specifically what type of system you have : windows XP, windows 7 (or Win 7), Win 8 or win 10 or are you on an Apple computer ? But then you'd have talked about safari.

If you are on Windows XP, the system is not supported by microsoft anymore ie : no more warranty ie no more security updates. I advise you to get a new computer, if you're on XP, your computer is probably too old to survive on win 7 not to mention win 10, the latest Microsft OS (Operating system). However you may not have the funds to get a new comp. Though with Black friday fast approaching, you may want to use it to your advantage.

Each browser, whether it's IE (internet explorer), Chrome, Firefox or Safari, uses plenty of addons or plugins. Addons are stuff like a spelling checker, or adblock or changing your display via a theme. Plugins are stuff like javascript, flash player etc. All of them need to be updated regularly. You can check in your "tools" (in the browser), if they are up to date. Addons are available for each broswer in the "store" attached to it. So for IE, it would be windows update (i think), for firefox it's on mozilla (addons section) and for chrome, it should be in the google store.

Considering the number of issues you have, you may have what we call spyware/malware, an antivirus doesn't usually pick on those, you need a program to check your computer and to delete the ones it finds. Spybot is a program that will find them, and it will then ask you what to do. You can get it on cnet or download.com which ever is more familiar to you.

Again considering the level of knowledge you may have, I'd still go to someone you know who has a better understanding of computers and deal with all your problems.

Also, i would defrag my computer, you may have never done it. A computer works this way, it rewrites and rewrites on its pages without really checking where ? Defragmentation helps with speed. http://www.iobit.com/en/iobitsmartdefrag.php

Also, from time to time, it helps to clean your registry. Because we spend our time installing/uninstalling stuff, it usually isn't done properly. CCleaner free will help with that.

We're not posting via the URL link, we're posting the URL directly in the post. The image displays properly while we type, as soon as you hit reply that image ain't there. We need a link.

We are talking about two different things.

Yeah. Sorry that was my bad. I was talking about posting images in the database.

I have my adblocker on yet I just now got another very intrusive ad. I tried to make a copy of it but it will not copy. I added an AKA title to a show I just added and then when I clicked on the Created New button it appeared, took control of my page and force scrolled it down to make me look at the ad. This is almost the same as the ones I had been getting except the choices are different and it begins with this:

Related Ad Topics

1.Job Listing

2. Discount Shopping

3.Education Degrees

4. Work At Home

5. Affordable Housing

6. Find A Business

7. Online Gambling

8. Breaking News

9. Free Credit Report

At the very bottom in very small letters it has this “ads”

Ron,

These ads are always different per person. The adds are based on what you are usually surfing on the internet.

@jaguardog Take a screenshot and send it to us so that we have an idea of what's going on.

Here's a tutorial: http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Micros...

What you're describing (the automated scrolling) doesn't sound at all like behaviour from our ads. And since you're already using adblockers you should start considering that it might not be TVmaze.

cheers,

Jan

Oh I never even considered it to be Maze it is whoever is trying to get free ad space here without any of you knowing about it. I’m almost positive that It's not my PC or I would see these kinds of ads in other sites but I’m not seeing any of them any other place but here?

Sorry Jan I read the instructions and i was able to get it pasted into Paint but the next step I cannot perform as it wants me to name it something and save it. The problem here is 2 months ago my PC totally crashed and a repair person installed a new hard drive and at the same time without my knowledge or permission installed a newer version of MS products, Excel, Word, Paint etc. I think it is 10 or 2010 and I still have not figured out how to use most of the things in these new programs nor can I find where I need to go to figure out certain commands. I can't find in Paint how to save it no Save button anywhere that I can find? I was using MS 1997 for the last 15 years or so and was very comfortable with it. He claims he only had a copy of 2010 so he could not change it?

The instructions state I can paste it into word and save it but I have done that already several times it saves but when i try to bring it in here I don't know how to bring a saved file over here? I'm hopeless and helpless sorry about that besides the screenshot i get is so small you can hardly see/read anything and I can't enlarge it. Also 1/2 the screen always makes a copy of my desktop for some strange reason and thast takes up to much space as well making it even harder to make out?
