I believe anyone can add Discus to their site and it is a great way to follow conversations and follow conversationalists to other similar or vastly different sites.

Do you mean like a 'Shoutbox'?
He means Discus, the third-tier program. You can login with whatever social media you prefer, twitter, fb etc or even create a discus account... But i'm not sure what that would achieve. Does it show elsewhere than on a specific site ? A lot of media use the program, most of them working with a blog system behind the scenes.
We can already post comments pretty much everywhere, so I don't know exactly what would be the advantage.

Mmm! I think its redundant too!

the advantage I feel is if I like your posts I can follow you and then if you post on another site that uses discus I can see that and jump there as well. Its just more immersive.

Hi caincrow, Welcome to TVmaze. What's the question exactly? :)
IDK. Um the dialogue here is restrained strictly to this site. Which is no big deal. Disqus is a larger chat site that can be attatched to any site. I think my question is have you thought about adding that to this site for the chats?
I dont think I clarified anything. lol. I dont know how to explain it fully. see if the forums and chats were connected to Disqus than you can follow your favorite posters all over the interweb where else they post on disqus.
IDk. Its not important.

Maybe. IDK what Shoutbox is.
Think of it as a community-building tool. It would be a way for members of this site to connect with each other outside of it, but also increase membership here by driveing more traffic through a friends-of-friends type algorithm.
I don't see how it could be seamlessly integrated, though - given the nature of the framework of the site as it is it probably couldn't be done without a complete overhaul.
Their website is https://disqus.com

THANK YOU!! THAT is what I was trying to say. :-)
Hi Caincrow,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm aware of what disqus is. We checked it out when first developing TVmaze but it doesn't fit with our overall goals.
There are several reasons why we don't use an external service like disqus, some of them being.
Lack of user privacy, Internal management limitations, As a third-party external source it will slow down pageloads, etc
We already have plans to further develop social management tools on TVmaze. But since we are in the first place a TV data provide we are first focussing our efforts into developing user and content management tools.
Thanks for the suggestion. Keep them coming. :)
cheers,
Jan
