Primetime filter for schedules for UK/AU

Marabon wrote 9 years ago: 1

Hi.

First off, thank you very much for this wonderful site and the amazing API!

I've tried the filter option for the schedule setting it to filter=primetime and it works great for US.
However, when the same is applied to GB (UK) and AU it's all empty it seems.

Would it be possible for you to make the filter=primetime work for UK and AU on their primetime?

It'd be greatly appreciated, and sorry if this is working somewhere I'm unable to find it.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the kind words!

As you noticed, the primetime filter is currently only supported for the US. I would be happy to extend it to other countries as well, but I'm not sure where to start as the definition of "primetime" is quite subjective.

As soon as I have some time I'll explain how the "primetime" filter works in the US (as opposed to what you might expect it doesn't take air times into account, but it uses a combination of network popularity and show type), then I'll take feedback about how it could be implemented for other countries.

Isn't primetime in Europe for example usually between 8-10 pm?

Yeah but like I said, the name of the filter is a bit misleading: the airtime is no factor at all. Maybe we should rename it to "popular" :)

(As you can see the schedule filter is a bit unpolished; for that reason it isn't currently even documented)

Thank you for the replies!

I myself isn't quite sure what networks and shows would qualify as primetime in the UK and AUS, except for between 8 PM and midnight I'd guess generally.

Not sure how you're calculating the popular networks and shows but wouldn't it be possible to do that to the UK and AU as well?
Perhaps you could poll the UK/AU users on what networks they prefer for starters or something like that.

Looking forward to seeing this implemented somehow.

Thanks for clarifying how it works!
