Because host is a US term, in the UK it's always called a presenter not a host, same as they call seasons for series. I normally change them accordingly whenever i come across it on either a show or person i'm editing, in this instance it was a person i was editing and simply forgot to afterwards go back and change it for the entire show which i will do now then.

hmm i wouldn't say it's an Americanism, as we use Hosts here in uk too. but mostly for talk show + game/panel related type shows whereas shows like the one show + blue peter or even documentaries can use presenters.

Hmmm all the official sites for UK shows i have seen has called it a presenter not a host, including for talk and game shows so i would still say the overall consensus is that presenter is the term mostly used in the UK. In all the years i have been working on tvsites the terms that where always given was the differences between UK and US in terms of season/series and host/presenter

i'm not talking about other sites, just going by what i see here on this site. and most uk game/panel and talk shows are using host not presenter. :)

Ahhh sorry i misunderstood then, thought you meant official sites for the shows. But yeah that is my point exactly, those are listed incorrectly on here as the term should be presenter for UK shows instead of host which is why i change it whenever i come across them.

hehe but I'd rather not get into edit wars with you on this though -- since I had changed some back, like qi and the live at the apollo. nowhere does it say its a written rule for uk shows to be only using presenter as a term. but if you still wanna change them anyways please do it across the whole show page. ;)
