Ratings Roundup Week of February 26

Between the Oscars and President Trump's first address to the Joint Houses of Congress, it's been an odd scheduling week. Lots of reruns across all of the networks, though NBC did premier three new series'. The Presidential Address garnered a little over 25 million viewers across the four networks that carried the speech.

NBC had three new programs premiering this week. March is not the month you want your shiny new show to premiere as it's usually just there as a schedule filler for something else canceled already. Chicago Justice, the latest series from Dick Wolf, joined his other Chicago-centric programs. Taken, the origin story for Bryan Mills of the popular movie franchise, also opened this week. Ratings for both premier episodes were good, if the shows can hold those numbers, second seasons could be in the cards. The Voice also returned for a twelfth season to top the network's numbers for the week. Emerald City ended its 'limited run' series, expect a quiet cancellation in the next few weeks.

ABC had a busy week with the 89th Oscars and a new four part mini series. The Oscars dominated Sunday night as well as the top ratings spot for ABC, however those numbers were the lowest since 2008. Was this a sign the viewing public had awards fatigue or just that no one was very interested in the nominated films this year? When We Rise told the story of the civil rights movement of the LGBT community. Ratings for the miniseries, however, were low overall, as the series sank to the bottom of the network rankings.

CBS, with few exceptions, ran reruns for the entire week, and three episodes of The Big Bang Theory still topped the network numbers for the Eye. Criminal Minds was the highest rated drama for the week. The die is cast, however, for Ransom. Even with a new episode this week, It came in last behind reruns of NCIS: Los Angeles and Kevin Can Wait. With only four episodes left, fans should enjoy it while it lasts.

Reruns dominated the schedule for FOX this week as well. Sleepy Hollow fans should prepare for the bad news sure to come in a few weeks. The supernatural mystery series aired one of the few new episodes this week and it still lost ground to just about everything, except reruns of APB and 24: Legacy. My Kitchen Rules closed its first season with low numbers as well, however reality shows are cheaper to make, so fans could see a second season.

The CW just keeps plugging along. Riverdale rose slightly from last week. It's still not a sure bet for renewal, but if it can maintain and not fall any further it might get a season two. The 100 matched its numbers for last week and holds steady.

Jan, at this point Supernatural will probably be made as long as Jared and Jensen want to make it. :) There were some click-baity headlines when this season started about the show ending at 300 episodes, but since that would be in the middle of season 14 I doubt it would happen until the end of that year (if even then)

Supernatural just keeps going.

Amazing work again, LadyShelley, I am still hoping The 100 will get renewed :D
