Ratings Roundup Week of October 14, 2018

ABC premiered its Tuesday night lineup last week. The Connors took the number one slot for the network. While not the, frankly freakish, opening Roseanne had last year, still more than respectable. The Kids Are Alright opened well as did The Rookie for Nathan Fillion. Perennial family favorite It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown did well as always, Toy Story of Terror, less so. Fresh Off The Boat and Speechless continue to sag on Friday night, and are both probably done. The Alec Baldwin Show opened embarrassingly low and isn't going to last long. The only question is will it get to finish out the eight episodes already ordered or will it get yanked.

CBS handed out more full season orders last week. The Neighborhood, God Friended Me, and Magnum PI all scored a full season one from the network. Of the three, the interesting one to follow will be God Friended Me. It's getting a huge ratings boost at the moment when there is an NFL overrun into primetime. However, when there isn't a football game, the show hovers around the network average. Fans will really have to wait until football season is over to know if their show has enough legs to get a second season.

NBC had a pretty steady grid ratings-wise from the previous week. This Is Us continues to lead the networks scripted programming. New Amsterdam slipped slightly while Manifest lost a tenth but held its overall audience numbers. I Feel Bad won't make it past its original episode order, so fans should enjoy what's left. Blindspot fans can also start worrying. The network has its episode count for any syndication deals, so chances are it will be done at the end of the season.

FOX gave full season episode orders to Last Man Standing and The Cool Kids last week. No surprise for either show. The Resident was steady as was Lethal Weapon. The Gifted lost a tenth and Rel lost two tenths, not good news for either show and fans should start to worry. Right now it doesn't look good for either.

Final Season

The networks have had pretty good luck so far this season with their rookie shows, only three are in danger of immediate cancellation. Several new programs have already received the good news of full season or "back nine" episode orders, are your new favorites among them? Let us know what you're watching this season in the comments.

That's nice about God Friended Me getting a full season order. :) I think I already mentioned my thoughts about Supergirl last week. I'm glad that Riverdale, Arrow, The Flash, and Black Lightning are back, and that Legends of Tomorrow will be back this week. I'm looking forward to Midnight, Texas returning to the schedule as well. I'm finding Big Bang Theory is somewhat disappointing this season.
