CW finally premiered some original programming last week. Walker opened its fourth season down slightly from where it ended a year ago. All American returned with the only tenth rating for the network, but it was down two hundred thousand viewers from where it ended last May. Lovers and Liars, a spinoff of FBoy Island, opened with less than 150,000 viewers. Chances are, it's not long for the world.

ABC surprised no one by renewing Will Trent and 9-1-1 last week, along with another season of Grey's Anatomy. The only scripted drama still awaiting news is The Rookie. Its fate may rest more on what new shows the network plans to premier next season as much as the the ratings numbers. Fans of 9-1-1 and Will Trent celebrated the happy news by not showing up. 9-1-1 was down eight hundred thousand viewers. Will Trent was down one hundred thousand viewers. Grey's was even. The Rookie was up four hundred thousand viewers, which can only help its chances for renewal.

CBS saw the return of Elsbeth last week with back-to-back episodes. The series opened with okay numbers but then disappeared from the schedule for two months. The first new episode was up almost a million viewers from its premiere. The second episode, however, sank, dropping the show back down to where it premiered in February. Tracker lost four hundred thousand viewers. The Equaliser picked up seven hundred thousand viewers after a week off and should be easily renewed.

NBC also surprised no one last week when it announced Quantum Leap would not be returning next season. (Here's hoping fans of this version had a better ending than the Scott Bakula-led show in the 1990s.) Lopez vs Lopez premiered its second season with back-to-back episodes. The first episode opened well, up seven hundred thousand viewers. The second episode, however, dropped the series back down to its typical low numbers from last season.

FOX had a quiet week. The Sunday animation block was preempted for racing, which considering the state of the rating for the animated shows, was probably a good thing. The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit were both even with the previous week in terms of viewers. The renewal chances for both shows aren't great and will likely depend on how the network structures its 2024-25 season.

CBS usually plays things closer to the vest. I fully expect all three FBI shows and the two NCIS shows to be renewed (I also expect some schedule shifting for next season to get all three NCIS shows on the same night)

Looking at the numbers for Lopez vs Lopez, Extended Family should be renewed. It's pulling a million more viewers per week over George and company. If any of the half-hour comedies get the axe, I expect Lopez to be the one to go. Night Court will be a slam dunk renewal.
