UFC Fight Night all wrong

The problem here is when the shows air on two different channels, we cannot just put them together according to our policy.

What is your take on this? @gazza911 @tnt @RoseRed @Thomas

My take on this is that its a total chaos ))

We have 21 (!!!) UFC show, smeared across several networks and web channels. Yeah, I suppose some documentary shows are standing aside, like https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/6173/ufc-ultimate-insider or https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/52785/ufc-fight-physics, but for example:

https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/1596/ufc-fight-night
https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/8472/ufc-fight-night-on-ufc-fight-pass
https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/1597/ufc-ppv-events
https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/41289/ufc-on-espn
https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/11214/ufc-main-event

basically list the different fragments from the same series of fights. From what I understand, Fight Pass and PPV are just different methods of payment for watching the fights. Besides that, there are some "extended expanded" shows, courtesy of you-know-who, like https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/9314/ufc-fight-flashback or https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/6440/ufc-reloaded.

But my main concern is that the main event (UFC ###) falls under the "Sports events which are not tied to a single specific country but are simultaneously aired in different countries." category, which is explicitly not allowed. You could see the ways of viewing it across the world: https://www.ufc.com/news/how-watch-ufc-257-poirier-vs-mcgregor-2-stream-links-start-times-and-fight-card, so in my opinion, it does not meet the policy requirements.

@JuanArango @tnt @gazza911

You can stream every UFC Events live on UFC Fight Pass, including the Pay Per View that you still have to pay full price.

Maybe if we just change the network and keep the naming sheme?
When using Fight Pass you have everything live (with PPV you pay extra for the event) on that network.

This would remedy the concerns about policy requirements

That way it doesn't matter wich network it also broadcasts on, it is always available live on the UFC Fight Pass

EDIT: The changes i propose is just to make it all allign in 1 big list (just as on UFC.com) with all the other shows still seperate.
This would make it less choatic in my opinion

ok, I think we must decide between two options.

1. We list it all under one show to sort out the chaos (besides the documentaries tnt mentioned)

2. We do not list it at all because there are concerns if it matches our policy requirements.

If i get a vote it would be Option 1, the others aren't up to date and it is just essentially "UFC Fight Night" with some episodes on different broadcast outlets.
With 1 common place, all of them (since its inception) are also broadcasted on the UFC Fight Pass wich would then be in compliance with the policy requirements.

The others could be deleted than to lessen the clutter.

That is, if i get a vote ^^

I'm still agreeing with @tnt here. Why an exception for UFC & not for the real football?

JuanArango wrote 3 years ago: 1

With looking at he links tnt provided, it seems that many different streaming services and networks are showing this at the same time worldwide. Then it is not allowed by our policy. it is sad for people who follow UFC here on tvmaze, but I guess it is what it is.

Before we start deleting stuff, we should know exactly which air worldwide.

Is it just particular fights that occassionally are shown in multiple countries simultaneously? (Our policy doesn't really say anything about when there's a mix)

Also, are these just the ESPN feeds, in other words a simulcast, or do they have their own commentary and such?

I think we do not have all that information.

I believe there are right bought by broadcasters for different area's.

Here in Belgium "Eleven Sports" Has the rights and they then broadcast it live in collaboration with Telenet, Orange & Proximus aswell as their own online platform.

UFC licencing to Eleven Sports who then licences it to Telenet etc for belgium

I think in some larger countries they dub the audio with commentary in their respective language. But all of those should stem from the same feeds.
But i think UFC streams the feeds to ESPN, ABC, FOX whenever there is an event on their channel. I think all of them are "UFC Fight Pass" feeds as they are always available on that channel and then also simultaneously on the channel it is advertised for.

And about the simulcast not being allowed, the last years we have seen so many new streaming services being launched which air series globally.
This is kinda the same thing imho, they have the rights off the series/movies and other channels are able to licence it.

I'm not sure, still not enough information. But I'm inclined to think that it doesn't meet the policy requirements.
But one thing for sure - all events, not streaming on ESPN (like https://www.tvmaze.com/episodes/2010836/ufc-fight-night-2021-01-16-ufc-on-abc-1-holloway-vs-kattar), should be either excluded from the listing or listed without the airdate.
