List of all shows in Watchlist

AmieCoff wrote 10 years ago: 1

Hey I'm very new to this site. There's so many threads it would take me ages to read thru so if I ask what has already been asked, forgive me.I was also an avid RageTV member & miss the easy to find functions in this site. I guess we've been so spoiled having sites do all the work for us that we no longer want to search.

My question is ... is there a way to see ALL your shows even that aren't airing? Unless I'm missing something really simple, I find I have to search each show to look at it.

I'm going to answer this one, because i asked for that specific feature and it doesn't exist.

But there are round about ways.

You go to your profile, dashboard, and on tabs Follow, you should be able to see them and filter them in some ways, a to z i think is possible. You might try the tags feature ? I don't know how it works. And there's no Help forum yet. But follows is the closest thing for what you are looking for.

Tv.com has the feature, if you were on tvrage you probably didn't like tv.com (like me i guess) but it has that specific feature, you click on your profile and all the shows appear in a column and you can click to any of them. Same as "the links" menu on tvrage. Adding them is going to be a biatch like anything but their search function is a bit more advanced (they have ten years, gazillions of developpers), so it will be faster than here. But if you stick to here, then search bar is fast.

I think it will be as fast to write the name of the show in the search bar than using the internal system of the dashboard. But that's just me. Especially because it remembers what you typed in. It will be long for long titles like how to get away with murder, but for short title, search function here is amazing. That's one of their cool features, not yet as advanced as tvrage was but it will get there very fast. They had to fill a void and they're being asked too much stuff at the same from that huge community that was rage.

I think the compromise (and i'm not entirely sure this would be difficult to implement) would be to move follow up one level. At same level as watchlist in profile and we'll have the same feature. You'd still have to do more clicks than you used to, but that would be as close as it gets. But you're the third person asking, so maybe, that'll be done eventually.

Yes, I think a feature where you hit one button and you get a list of all shows on the site can be implemented.
I will talk to david about this and see how much work this is, as Tonks mentioned, we are doing alot around here right now, as alot of features are requested from refugees coming from tvrage or myepisodes :)

We will get to everything in time, do not worry :)

cheers
Juan

Maybe you could pin that topic, it's coming up at least once a day (there's a new one on the top of the forum) and like any forum people really don't really check if a topic exists and they may not recognize it's the same question they ask if worded a bit differently.

AmieCoff wrote 10 years ago: 1

Thanks Juan. I know how much work running a site is so I appreciate the feedback. All your spoiled little children (members) will always ask for something better & simpler lol

Thanks Tonks but clicking A-Z only brings up the shows that are actually airing. I want to be able to click & look at the full list of shows in my follow list. I have been single searching by typing in the name of the show but then I have to still click back to my page to see my list.

Thank you TV Maze for your great work :)

I know it's not what you're asking for, but it's the closest. TV.com has what you are asking for. It's now a choice between using this site without the feature (that will be implemented since that's what Juan is saying) or go to tv.com in the mean time. I didn't understand the part about searching and clicking back to your page bit though.

This is my original topic (you don't see my messages as i deleted them (we were not having productive discussions as you can surmise from their replies), but since thomas quoted my message entirely you can see, i've asked for the same and I also asked it in another topic with no avail. It looks like now people (me and them) are calmer.

Now that there are a lot of people asking for the same thing, it will hopefully be implementd/created. Hopefully, we will get that feature sooner than later, but search ain't too bad in the mean time. Thank you for asking what I was asking for ;)

As an afterthought i checked to see if i was seeing the same problem as you, cause i don't use the follow feature, it's not as easy as search.

I added (followed) Constantine, Lucifer and Game of thrones, all not airing right now (one even cancelled) and i see them in follow and a to z. In my site preferences, i have default filter by followed shows, a to z (i don't think that's working actually, cause i have to reset it everytime in follow) and default calendar view "my followed shows". (I think calendar should offer all shows as well, but that's me). I use Firefox 41 (latest version).

AmieCoff wrote 10 years ago: 1

Yeah I tried the A - Z before I wrote in the forum. It only gives you your "followed" shows that you haven't watched yet. As soon as you click watched it takes it out of your list until the next episode airs.

I tried again just now & I have an empty page with this message: "Congratulations, you're caught up with all your favorite shows! Time to find some more"

Anyhoo it's fine. I was curious as how to maneuver around this site. I'm quite happy to stay with this site.

Another site I found which is pretty good is next-episode.net.

Yes, using the calendar is awesome. I use a A5 sized diary to write all my shows in & then mark it when I've "watched" the episode. The calendar helps update each week as well as months ahead.

Thanks for all your help. I appreciate it :)

Tonks wrote 10 years ago: 1

Oh I see ! I don't use the site to know what i've watched ! That's why i couldn't see what you described. Then yeah, they need to take into account the list we're asking for is something that should not take into account if we watched something or not. Just all the shows/persons, forums we follow.

Samango wrote 10 years ago: 1

AmieCoff, it would appear that you are talking about when you click on watchlist (they disappear as you mark them as watched).

As Tonks said though, just below Watchlist on your profile dropdown is another option, Dashboard

If you click on this then choose the follows tab you will get a full list of your shows which I think is what you are after.

I have used this a lot since joining and will definitely use it a lot more, but like others I would really like a dedicated button at the top of the site to allow direct access. (I've made a shortcut on my browser's toolbar but a button on the site would be far better)

I would also love it if the show's status would appear on this list (dashboard /follows) as that would be a very simple one stop solution to check on shows that have ended or been renewed.

Thanks Sam

Great to hear, thanks!

cairns1986 wrote 10 years ago: 1

The show status is a fantastic new addiction. :)

Tonks wrote 10 years ago: 1

Thanks ! Great addition!

Though i'm still waiting for the option to have it while clicking on my name ;) Still watched orientated, which i will not be using as i don't use th site as a calender ;) 'or a diary of what i have watched, i pretty much know where i am on all shows i watch even when i stopped like 2 years ago (i know i may not be in the majority, but i like the fact that my memory is still working fine).

Anyway we could have a default by a to zz across the board ?

david wrote 10 years ago: 1

Yep, a preference for the default filter & sort for this page will follow shortly. :)

Is it possible to add the average duration of an episode somewhere?

I don't think that is needed. You already know how long a shows lasts that you watch on a regular basis.

Cecile wrote 10 years ago: 1

I think the information is needed somewhere. But I don't see it, even on the show's page. It is pretty useful when your looking at a show you don't know yet.
