Bob the Drag Queen

Nivekolsen posted 3 years ago

Just wanted to give you a heads up; Bob the Drag Queen/Caldwell Tidicue is a non-binary person (see proof here), since TVMaze doesn't have any software that supports non-binary people, I left the gender empty - please leave it that way :)

I changed the name back to Bob the Drag Queen as well, since that's their stage name, and the most common name associated with the person - if this is wrong, feel free to change the name back.

dpratt posted 3 years ago

That doesn't mean he isn't a male though. When someone defines themselves as non-binary it should defer to biological sex.

TVmaze policy is to use the name most commonly credited as, which is not the same thing as most commonly known as. He may be most commonly known as Bob the Drag Queen but he is most commonly credited as Caldwell Tidicue when he is credited as an actor which is what that means.

Nivekolsen posted 3 years ago

The non-binary thing is not something I will argue with you about, as a non-binary person myself I feel it's offensive to not recognize someone's gender identity, but if that is the policy, go ahead. Saying "That doesn't mean he isn't a male though" is quite offensive, Bob the Drag Queen is not a man.

Have you watched everything by Bob? I think they are usually credited as Bob the Drag Queen?

dpratt posted 3 years ago

Here are the data policies: https://www.tvmaze.com/faq/29/people

His Twitter bio says he uses he/him or she/her pronouns. Usually when drag queens use both he/him and she/her that's because they have a alternate female persona but are still comfortable identifying as male. Ru Paul is the same. That's what I meant when I said it doesn't mean he isn't male. I didn't mean to offend. Hopefully you understand.

I haven't watched everything of his but at the end of the show Tales of the City he is credited as Caldwell Tidicue. He is credited as that in other stuff too.

There are many non-binary people who don't use he/him or she/her, only they/them - should their gender be left empty? There is also obviously a big difference between gender identity and drag of cource, Bob uses he/him & she/her both in and out of drag, simply because he doesn't like the they/them pronouns.

Take e.g. Sam Smith, should they have "male" as gender, despite them beeing non-binary and exclusively using they/them pronouns? It seems unnecessary to incorrectly credit someone as "himself" when the option for "they/them" is available and preferred by the person? The info-box also says "gender", not "biological sex".

If that is the case the policy should imo. be updated, as it seems to be outdated.

dpratt posted 3 years ago

From the TVmaze policy:

"Gender

The gender for this person. If their gender is not known or ambiguous, this field should be left empty."

Unknown - meaning the biological sex of the person is not known.

Ambiguous - meaning that the person is not clearly male nor clearly female.

I think in Bob's case it should be set to male because he uses he/him and in Sam Smith's case it should be left empty because they use they/them pronouns.

Nivekolsen posted 3 years ago

That should be added to the policy then, I have changed many people's gender to blank because they are non-binary and use they/them pronouns, yet people keep updating them back to male/female. And in instances where people use multiple different pronouns, e.g. Jonathan Van Ness who uses they/them/she/her/he/him, should the gender be left empty then?

dpratt posted 3 years ago

It's always better to have information filled in than left blank.

One example  would be if the biological sex is literally unknown. Like you want to add a name belonging to a crew member but you have no clues as to whether it is a male or a female because you have no idea who that crew member is or what he or she looks or sounds like and the name itself could belong to a male or a female.

The other example applies to things that don't have a gender such as bands since bands are often added as single person records. That is because bands are almost always credited by the name of the band and not the name of the individuals who make up the band.

You seem like someone who wants to take the time to understand people first before filling in a gender and that's fine. But if it's possible to use biological sex as the gender then you should do that as in Jonathan's case.

Group Chat S2

Magitroopa posted 3 years ago

Please stop deleting season 2 of Group Chat. While The Futon Critic gives them all '1##' production codes, these are clearly two different sections of the show- the first 6 episodes being 'with Annie and Jayden' and the rest being 'with Jayden and Brent'. Other sites such as Zap2it has them listed separately as well (A&J ----- J&B). Even JuanArango has previously stated that the new episodes should be added as season 2. While not every source agrees about it being one full season or two separate seasons- they should definitely be separate to signify the change in hosts.

EDIT: Should also be noted that only the 6 A&J episode were originally ordered- The later J&B episodes were renewals not originally planned.

Magitroopa posted 3 years ago

A. Whether one season or two seasons, the show has had two distinctive names, "Group Chat with Annie and Jayden" and now "Group Chat with Jayden and Brent". There's no reason not to separate the two to show where this change occurred easily.

B. The renewal press release states:

"Nickelodeon's Unfiltered will return with new episodes..." in contrast to Group Chat, which it states, "...followed by the premiere of Group Chat with Jayden and Brent..."

Later on in the same press release, it states, "The first season of "Group Chat," which Bartels co-hosted with Annie LeBlanc, debuted May 23..."

Even if the production codes don't indicate a second season, there's no reason we can't have separate seasons to separate the 'with Annie and Jayden' and 'with Jayden and Brent' portions of the show.

That screen shot actually says Season 1. The production code has nothing to do with it. How about we compromise with Season 1A and Season 1B?

Ryan's Mystery Playdate

Magitroopa posted 5 years ago

Hello, I would like to ask you not to mess with the episodes as you did on Ryan's Mystery Playdate. They should not be separate episodes, as they are together, as seen on FutonCritic. Thank you and I hope you understand.

dpratt posted 5 years ago

The policy on TVmaze says that if an episode is broken up into multiple parts that each part should be listed as a separate record. Here is the exact quote: "If there are separate titles (even if the only distinction is "Part 1" versus "Part 2") for the two parts, two separate episodes should be created." Ryan's Mystery Playdate has two titles per episode, thus two separate episodes should be created.

Here and Now

TonyMayhew posted 6 years ago

Hi mate, I noticed you set the series "Here and Now" to running on 5th February. This series does not start until 11th February.
A series is "In Development" until the first episode airs.

If you are unsure, please refer to the data policies:

In Development: for new shows currently in development, when a pilot has not yet aired
Running: episodes are currently airing, or will air again in the future
Ended: no more episodes of this show will air
To Be Determined: it's unsure whether new episodes of this show will ever air again

dpratt posted 6 years ago

Sorry mate. My mistake. Next time I will wait until the pilot has aired.
