Tutankhamun

ITV's new four part drama, Tutankhamun, is based on the story of Howard Carter and his discovery of the tomb of one of Ancient Egypt’s forgotten pharaohs, the boy-king Tutankhamun. Lord Carnarvon is the dashing eccentric who keeps faith with Carter and continues to back his expeditions when no one else will.

Max Irons plays the part of Howard Carter, while Sam Neill plays the part of Lord Carnarvont.

In the opening episode, archaeologist Howard Carter is recruited by aristocrat and amateur Egyptologist Lord Carnarvon to explore the Valley of the Kings, and discovers evidence of the boy-king's final resting place. However, his expedition is threatened by global events and his own impulsive nature.

Being only four episodes long, I did expect the story to move along at a reasonable pace but, this didn't really happen in the first episode.
Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it. I just feel that something was missing. What was missing, I have no idea, but after watching it, I wasn't really gripped by what was going on, or the lack of it.

I'm pretty sure I'll watch the rest of the series, so here's hoping the story will start to move a bit quicker in episode two next week.....

Tutankhamun airs on ITV in the UK Sunday nights at 9pm.

For anyone that's not heard of the series, here's a trailer

Did you watch Tutankhamun, or do you intend to do so? Please, do share your thoughts and views below. I look forward to reading them.

I watched the first episode and would have to agree, there wasn't much there that was compelling. I don't think I will be watching any more episodes.
