Ratings Roundup for the Week of January 30, 2022

NBC will spend the next two weeks enjoying the rating bump that is the Winter Olympics. The numbers are down compared to previous Games, but the Peacock execs will take it. And since every other network plans to air mostly repeats for the next two weeks, they have a pretty clear field. This Is Us was even with the previous week. American Auto had even ratings, but dropped two hundred thousand viewers. It will probably squeak a second season. Grand Crew was also even but lost one hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford and is likely done. Kenan wrapped its second season as the network burned through episodes in half the usual time. Running episodes back-to-back did nothing to help the show's numbers and it's likely done.

ABC wrapped its Sunday night game shows last week. Both Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Supermarket Sweep did well enough to probably earn another season. Judge Steve Harvey gained a tenth, though it lost another two hundred thousand viewers. The Wonder Years was up a tenth after a week off. Abbott Elementary had even ratings, but was down three hundred thousand viewers. All three freshman shows should be renewed. The Rookie was even for ratings but gained three hundred thousand viewers. Promised Land lost a hundred thousand viewers off its premiere, and is done.

FBI: International was up a tenth, while FBI: Most Wanted was even. Good Sam picked up a ratings tenth, but its viewer numbers were flat.

FOX feasted on one last NFL playoff game last week. An episode of Next Level Chef followed the NFC Championship game, but that audience did not follow the show to its regular night where its numbers were flat. Call Me Kat picked up three hundred thousand viewers. Pivoting gained a couple hundred thousand viewers as well, but it's probably too little too late. The Real Dirty Dancing opened with terrible numbers, and even for a cheap reality show, it isn't long for the world. 911: Lone Star picked up a ratings tenth and more than half a million viewers. The Cleaning Lady gained three hundred thousand viewers.

The CW announced last week it had picked up pilots for both a Supernatural prequel as well as a prequel to Walker. Walker is only in its second season, what's there to form the basis of a prequel? As for its scheduled shows, Naomi and 4400 each lost another hundred thousand viewers. March was even. DC's Legends Of Tomorrow keeps chugging along. Assuming the cast is still interested, it should be renewed.

With the Olympics, the other networks are planning to air mostly reruns for the next two weeks. (except for those shows they want to burn off while no one is looking.) As a result, Ratings Roundup is taking a short break until the end of the month.
