CBS broke the seal last week, giving Matlock an early renewal. The news came after another good ratings week for the Kathy Bates-led series, which picked up one hundred thousand viewers from the previous week. Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage lost one hundred thousand viewers off its premiere. It's still the highest-rated comedy for the network and won't be going anywhere. Expect another quick renewal announcement for the freshman series in the coming weeks. Poppa's House premiered to okay numbers. It only lost a couple hundred thousand viewers from its lead-in, The Neighborhood. Speaking of, The Neighborhood opened its seventh season down four hundred thousand viewers from its finale in May. NCIS and NCIS: Origins shifted to their regular time last week. Both were down almost a million viewers as a result.

ABC had another middling week. On the good side, The Golden Bachelorette picked up two hundred thousand viewers. High Potential bounced back, gaining three hundred thousand viewers, while Grey's Anatomy was up one hundred thousand viewers. At the other end, 9-1-1 and Abbott Elementary were down two hundred thousand viewers each. Doctor Odyssey lost almost the same. Its renewal chances will quickly fade if it doesn't find ratings bottom soon.

NBC enjoyed another week of good football ratings. Brilliant Minds picked up a few tens of thousands of viewers, breathing a little hope into its fans. Happy's Place lost half a million viewers from its premiere. As long as it doesn't lose much more, it might be safe. Lopez vs Lopez lost three hundred thousand viewers, making it the lowest-rated comedy for the network. Found was up one hundred thousand viewers, possibly too little too late, but time will tell. The Irrational dropped two hundred thousand viewers, putting it at the bottom of the ratings chart. As long as this is a one-off, the show could still be renewed. Both Law & Order shows were up last week. Chicago Med was up six hundred thousand viewers. Fire was up three hundred thousand viewers, and PD was even.

FOX flipped the schedule for Universal Basic Guys and The Simpsons last week. The network gambled on a huge NFL overrun and won. Universal Basic Guys was up more than three million viewers over its last new episode a couple of weeks ago. The trick will be if any of those three million viewers decide to stick around. The Simpsons weathered the switch as well, picking up nearly a million viewers over its last new episode. Bob's Burgers was up half a million viewers, and even Krapopolis managed a bump, picking up four hundred thousand viewers. Rescue HI-Surf may have staunched the bleeding. It only lost a few tens of thousands of viewers last week. Murder in a Small Town managed to gain two hundred thousand viewers.
