During an off-world assignment, Jack is struck down by energy from a blue crystal...which creates a duplicate of him that returns to Earth in Jack's place.

This episode takes place several months after the events of "Children of the Gods". Security footage of O'Neill in his holding room shows some of the events of the episode taking place on May 9th.
For some reason, this is my favorite episode from the entire show, and I've watched it all. I wish Jack's wife appeared more in these TV series.
