Six subjects undertake a simulated space flight to determine if the months in isolation of a real trip to the target planet of Antheon are psychologically and emotionally endurable. They're unaware that someone--or something--in the simulation intends them to fail.

Flight attendant Maggie O'Hara checks on the six passengers in the simulated spacecraft as they board. Botanist Michael Lint is checking his plants in the greenhouse, and Maggie has him sit down. She then calls Captain Harvey Branson in the cockpit and says that all passengers are aboard. Branson welcomes the passengers aboard and says that they will arrive at the planet Antheon in 261 days.
