Prepare to swoon over Adam Brody and Kristen Bell's romance for another season. Nobody Wants This is returning for Season 2, because you wanted it.
The first season of Nobody Wants This ended with rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) and podcaster Joanne sharing a romantic kiss in a parking lot after leaving a bat mitzvah. You know, classic rom-com stuff. While there are still plenty of obstacles in the way of their love, Netflix has renewed the Erin Foster-created series for Season 2 — leaving lots of time to explore those road blocks.
Season 1 saw the lovebirds fall for each other quickly, but the fact that Joanne isn't Jewish was a major complication for a rabbi. While Joanne considered converting, she admitted she wasn't quite ready to commit to that process just yet. It seemed that the duo would have to go their separate ways, but Noah's grand gesture in the parking lot showed that he's not ready to give up on their love — and neither is she.
Brody tells Tudum that he interpreted the ending as Noah promising Joanne, "I put you first. Everything else will work itself out, but I'm saying that you are my priority".
Of course, "everything else" is a lot. The cultural differences between the two are vast, and Joanne isn't necessarily beloved by Noah's close-knit family. "In the light of day, will he still feel that way? I don't know", Brody adds. "It's an open question".
Luckily, Season 2 can dig into that tension as the duo decide to commit — or not.
Cool! Looking forward to Season 2! :)
