Roy Ward

Roy Ward has worked as an actor, voice artist, writer, and director for over 30 years. He has had key roles in many top drama series including Shortland Street, The Brokenwood Mysteries, and Dirty Laundry. As a script writer and editor, Roy has worked on some of New Zealand's leading television series including Shortland Street, The Brokenwood Mysteries, and Jackson's Wharf.

Roy Ward sometimes gets to write his own dialogue. Inbetween early roles in Shark in the Park (as a detective) and The Ugly (a nasty prison boss), Ward lived in the Netherlands; he starred in Modern Crimes, which competed at the Cannes Film Festival. After returning home, he trained as a script editor on Shortland Street — one of a variety of scripting gigs Ward has done for the show. Alongside writing and acting, he has also directed a number of plays. He writes and acts (as Reverend Lucas Greene) on the long-running Brokenwood Mysteries. Ward is ex Associate Director and Literary Manager of Auckland Theatre Company.
