Born in Yorkshire, England, Gemma Whelan attended the London Studio Centre and is a member of the dance troupe the Beaux Belles, based in London. She landed her first role in a 2009 episode of 10 Minute Tales, and appeared as Gwen's maid in the 2010 film The Wolfman.
