Born in Salisbury, Maryland, Linda Hamilton studied for two years at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland before taking up acting studies in New York at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. She debuted in the 1979 indie drama Night-Flowers, and the following year began to make a name for herself on the soap opera Secrets of the Midland Heights, in the role of Lisa Rogers.
