Born in Manchester, England, Steve Coogan entertained his large family with impersonations of family, friends, celebrities and public figures. He continued to hone this talent as he trained as an actor at the Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre. Discovered while performing standup comedy led to putting his voice talents to work, beginning in 1988 on the satirical show Spitting Image, along with a spot in a series named First Exposure. He became a comedic star in his native England, and in 1992 he created his most famous and beloved character - the poorly dressed and paunchy Alan Partridge of BBC fame.
