While carrying the pot across the kitchen, he stepped on a spill of olive oil and went flying across the floor. Miraculously, he managed to keep the pot upright but left a trail of sauce in his wake.
As he slid to a stop, covered in marinara, his classmates burst into laughter. One of them shouted, "You slid like a blur, Murt!" And from that moment, the nickname "Murt" stuck.
Embracing the moniker, Chris even created a signature dance move called "The Murt Slide," reenacting his infamous slip and slide at parties, much to everyone's delight. The nickname followed him throughout his culinary career, becoming a beloved part of his persona.
