Born in Los Angeles, California, Michael Bay attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica, and got his start in the film industry interning with George Lucas when he was 15. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1986, majoring in both English and film. He made his screen debut in a 1986 episode of Miami Vice, and in the TV-movie Vengeance: The Story of Tony Cimo. In the late 1980s he began directing music videos, and his early works as a producer include Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
