William Russell

Born in Sunderland, England, William Russell debuted in the 1952 film Glory at Sea, and came to prominence in the title role of the 1956 television series Adventures of Sir Lancelot.  He later became part of the original cast in Doctor Who, playing the role of Ian Chesterton in the first episode through to 1965. In 2022 he made a cameo appearance as Ian in the episode The Power of the Doctor, 57 years after that characters final appearance.
