Born in Hollywood, California, Darryl Hickman started his career as a child actor signed with Paramount Studios. His first part was an uncredited role as Ronald Colman's son in the 1937 film The Prisoner of Zenda and next came The Grapes of Wrath in 1939. He spent a brief time in a monastery in the early 1950s, then earned a bachelor's degree in English at Loyola University before going into the service during the Korean War. Upon returning to civilian life he worked mostly in television, eventually becoming a screenwriter and television producer.
Darryl Hickman died at the age of 92.
