Two Years Ago: Mutant Relocation Facility, Georgia

John and another mutant, Pulse, wait outside of the facility and wait for the escapees to reach them. They hear gunshots and one mutants run up, saying that the others are dead. The guards open fire, and Pulse runs in and shorts out the automated weapons. However, a guard shoots Pulse and kills him, while John is forced to watch before running away.

Now

At Sentinel Services, Jace brings Lorna in and he tells her that she'll only be there a couple of days. He takes her to a cell next to Reed, and Jace says that he's going to prison with her. Once they're alone, Reed tells Lorna that they need to stick together. He says that he was working with Marcos and that's why he's there, and they need to work together if they want to escape. Lorna doesn't want to him.

At the mutant HQ, John tells the others that Lorna and Reed are being held at Sentinel Services and they're soon going to be moved to an ultra-secure facility. Sage points out that they lost six people they went up against SS, and warns that their systems have improved. John says that if they do nothing then there's a 100% chance they'll never see her. Marcos points out that Lorna saved all of them and now she needs them, and asks who is with her. Dreamer and two others agree.

As they wait on their cots, Andy tells Lauren that Reed is screwed. Caitlin tells them that they can't afford to think like that, but Lauren points out that it's a huge risk. Their mother says that sometimes they just have to take a risk and hope for the best.

As Marcos and John work out a plan, Caitlin arrives and says that she's with them. Clarice says that she can port them in but none of them can cloud the cameras. Caitlin suggests that they don't go in, and figures that they get Lorna and Reed while they're moving. Marcos figures that he can get the route from the cartel, but John warns that the last time Marcos barely got out.

John finds Dreamer and asks if she talked to Clarice about what happened. Dreamer says that it isn't necessary, and she believes that the "dream" will fade. When John says that she's going to tell Clarice, Dreamer warns that Clarice might leave and then they'll have no one to help with the rescue. However, she admits that she would have done it whether Clarice agreed or not because they're at war.

Marcos approaches one of the cartel, Francisco, who draws a gun. Francisco takes Marcos into the cartel club and a woman, Carmen, greets Marcos. Marcos reminds her that she wasn't too happy the last time he was there, and she reminds him that he snuck out of her bed. After a moment, Carmen says that she's just messing with him and it was a long time ago. When Marcos asks to see her father, Carmen tells him that he retired and she's in charge. She explains that she's laundering $3 million through the club, and Marcos says that he needs information about sentinel Services' route. Carmen warns that it's a suicide mission, and realizes that one of the prisoners is the girl he left her for. She asks what Lorna would think of knowing he was coming to her, and says that her father thought of Marcos like a son. Carmen agrees to help, but says that she only does favors for her friends and asks if he wants to be her friend again. After a moment, Marcos joins her in a drink.

As Clarice sleeps, she dreams of the memories that Dreamer implanted in her head of being with John.

Marcos calls John and says that he'll send him the route. He warns that Carmen is playing with him, and John warns him that Carmen is dangerous. Carmen takes the phone from Marcos and dares Marcos to come and get it. She says that they were good together and asks why they didn't work out. Marcos says that she cared about different things, and he disagreed with the family business. She tells him that she wants his hands in return for the route information.

John tells the others what Marcos found out. He works out the best place to hit it, in an old warehouse district. John warns that Marcos is working on getting the timeframe, and Caitlin warns that they have to get Reed and Lorna out alive and stop the bus peacefully.

Outside, Lauren finds Andy and says that they need to find a safe way to stop the prison truck. She asks if he can break the tire truck, and Andy warns that his power isn't precise. Lauren suggests that they use her power to focus what he does, and tells Andy to use his power on a nearby lamppost. It starts to shake, and Lauren uses her power to create a force field so Andy only shatters the lamp.

Reed watches Lorna try to summon her power, and says that he thought the laws were clear and the people he prosecuted were guilty. Then he found out that his kids are mutants and didn't mean to hurt anyone. However, they broke the law and would get at least ten years each. Before what happened, Reed didn't understand but he does now and he's sorry. Lorna sarcastically congratulates him on figuring out he's one of the bad guys, and asks if he wants forgiveness. She tells Reed to ask the hundreds of lives that he and his friends ruined, and not ask her.

Lauren and Andy show John and Caitlin what they've learned to do. Caitlin refuses to let her children attack a convoy, but John points out that they don't have an alternative. Lauren reminds Caitlin what she said about taking risks, and they want to fight for it because it's worth fighting for. After a moment, Caitlin tells John that she can't have Andy and Lauren in harm's way. He says that he'll get them out as soon as they stop the bus, and Caitlin agrees.

Carmen takes Marcos to a tenement and says that she wants his help with a little project. She has a man tied up, and says that she protects her people. Carmen tells Marcos that he's not so different from him, and explains that the prisoner stole two kilos from them and they need to know where it is. Marcos says that he doesn't do it anymore, but Carmen tells him that the price for her information is his coming and doing exactly what she asks him to do. After a moment, Marcos says that the prisoner can't talk when he's gagged. Carmen's guard removes the gag, and Marcos tells her to tell the man what Carmen wants. The man claims that he knows nothing, and Marcos glows his hand and tells the man that he can blind him forever. The prisoner breaks and says where the two kilos are, and Carmen tells Marcos that she'll be in touch and hopes that Lorna is worth it.

Marcos returns to the HQ and tells John the timeframe of the convoy. John asks how it went with Carmen, and Marcos claims that she was happy to help. He says that he did what he had to do and tells John to back off.

Clarice continues to dream of being with John.

Marcos prays over a gun.

Clarice Dreamer finds John and stands by his side.

The next morning, Jace and his agents take Lorna and Reed to the prison bus. The agents manacle them in their seats and the bus heads out.

In the warehouse district, John and Clarice find a vantage point so that she can see inside of the bus and open a port. Clarice says that she hasn't been sleeping well, and asks John if he's ever thought about walking away. John says that what they're doing is important, and Clarice asks him if they went outside the night that they first met. He tells her that they didn't, and Clarice quickly agrees with him.

Andy, Lauren, and Caitlin are on the roof, and Caitlin gets medical supplies ready just in case. Lauren remembers that the football team's breakfast fund-raiser is that morning, and now they're fighting with the mutant underground.

Marcos tells the others that if things go wrong, he's not leaving without Lorna but they should get away if things get sideways.

Andy spots the bus coming, and he tries to summon is power. He says that it's different because the bus is moving, and Lauren angrily says that maybe the bullies were right and Andy is nothing. Angry , he shoves her aside and unleashes his power, and Lauren focuses it to blow out the bus tire.

Marcos and the others realize that the bus is further along than they anticipated. Jace and his men get out to check the area, and Reed tells Lorna that if they get a chance, it will come along soon. He asks if her hate for him is greater than escaping with her baby, and asks her to help him take any chance.

John and Clarice head for a better vantage point, and John breaks through a wall.

Jace figures that mutants attacked them and tells his men to lock it down. Marcos tells his teammates Sage and Trader to go, but they refuse to go. Trader uses his camouflage ability to move in unseen.

John and Clarice find a spot to see a bus. When Clarice summons a portal, she wavers and then says that something is interfering with the portal. John realizes that his powers aren't working as well, and leads Clarice off.

As Trader approaches the bus, his camouflage ability flickers out. A guard shoots him, and Marcos is unable to summons his lasers.

John tells Clarice that the only thing that can disrupt mutant abilities is a particular mutant; Pulse. He sees Pulse among the SS agents, and tells Clarice that Pulse can suppress abilities and was his best friend until he thought he died.

Marcos takes out a gun and tells Dreamer to save Trader while he draws the guards away. he opens fire while Dreamer goes to Trader and puts pressure on his wound. Caitlin leads Andy and Lauren away and they find their SUV, and Lauren discovers that her power doesn't work. When a guard checks out the SUV, Caitlin injects him with a tranquilizer and tells Lauren and Andy to drive to the HQ while she gets Reed. Caitlin runs off and her children drive off.

Je tells his teams to look for more mutants, and they're heading out in five minutes. The guards prepare to move Lorna and Reed to a safe location, and the guars go in to unfasten Reed and Lorna. Reed kicks one guard over to Lorna, who knocks him out.

Marcos continues exchanging fire with the guards.

The second guard clubs Reed won. When he turns on Lorna, Reed yells at him to leave her alone and the guard clubs him.

Marcos tries to summon his powers.

The guard drags his associate out.

John jumps the guard covering Pulse and takes him out. He then tackles Pulse, disrupting his concentration. John tries to get through to his friend, but Pulse turns his power on John directly. The mutant punches him unconscious and sees a wolf's head tattoo on Pulse's wrist.

Lorna tells Reed that her powers are back, but everything in the bus is plastic.

John sees a tattoo on Pulse's wrist.

Reed tells Lorna that there's a metal screw in his leg, and that she should take it. she uses her magnetic powers to pull the screw out of Reed's leg, break his plastic ties with it, and then shoots the screw at the guard to kill him.

Marcos' powers return, and he blasts the cars that the guards are taking cover behind. Their gas tanks explode.

Clarice creates a portal and Dreamer gets Trader through it.

John finds Marcos and says that they have to go. Lorna shatters the metal in the bus, and Jace orders his men to shoot to kill. John and Marcos run to the bus as Lorna and Reed come out. When Jace and his men open fire, Lorna stops the bullets and then yanks the guns out of their hands. Jace orders a retreat, and Caitlin pulls up in a SS van and tells them to get in. They do so and Caitlin kisses her husband, and then they drive off. Jace tells his assistant Weeks that he wants all of the mutants.
