CADET McKEEVER TRIES TO BE EXPELLED PROM ACADEMY, BUT HEADMASTER HAS REASONS TO KEEP HIM ENROLLED IN "McKEEVER AND THE COLONEL"

Cadet Gary McKeever goes on a deliberate demerit spree in hopes of being ousted from Westfield Military Academy, and panics the headmaster, Colonel Harvey Blackwell, in "General McKeever, " the premiere episode of "McKeever and the Colonel," a family comedy series on NBC-TV Sunday, Sept. 23 (6:30-7 p.m. NYT). The series stars Scott Lane and Allyn Joslyn in the respective title roles of McKeever and Colonel Blackwell.

Blackwell's frenzy is triggered by a set of test scores from Washington which indicates McKeever is the smartest boy in the academy. Fearing possible expulsion of an outstanding student would mar his record as headmaster, the Colonel resorts to kindness and understanding to halt McKeever 's demerit frolics and to keep him in school.

But McKeever takes advantage of the Colonel's fatherly approach to turn Westfield into his own personal country club. When Blackwell finally learns the reason for McKeever 's antics, he resorts to old-fashioned discipline.

Regular series co-stars in the cast include Jackie Coogan as Sergeant Barnes and Elisabeth Fraser as Miss Warner. Featured regulars include Keith Taylor as Tubby and John Eimen as Monk, two of McKeever’s fellow cadets. The cast for this episode also includes Peter Hansen as Major McKeever, Jim Houghton as Lieutenant Postelwaite and Shirley Mitchell as Mrs. Davenport.
