Hank and Evan are attending a party where a magician is performing. Evan is taking the opportunity to hand out HankMed promotional material. “Magic Andy” performs a successful trick with Evan's watch and disappears in the fireplace. What the onlookers fail to see is his momentary panic and weakness, followed by his pants leg catching fire and burning him.
After the trick, Andy pulls Hank aside and asks for help. Hank treats the burns with honey and uses plastic wrap to hold it in place. Andy tells Hank about the weakness and panic attack and Hank recommends an EKG.
At home, Jill tells Hank she has been trying to see Boris with no luck. Hank offers to help her get into see Boris, who is busy being a new father and she agrees. At the staff meeting, Evan reveals that he managed to slip a HankMed DVD into Matt Lauer's pocket, and his Internet searches reveals Matt's regular haunts in the Hamptons. Hank accuses Evan of just trying to get onto television and Evan is hurt, saying he is just trying to grow the business. Evan poses the questions on whether Hank would agree to be on the Today show if asked, and Hank finally says yes to shut him up, but thinks Evan is living in a fantasy world.
The girls leave the brothers to their argument and Jill asks Divya why she has not told Hank about her second job at the hospital. Divya says she does not want to burden Hank and knows he will try to help her pay Raj's parents, but that is not his responsibility.
Evan goes to the local country club where he is believes Matt Lauer swims and intentionally jumps into the pool, almost on top of the swimmer he believes is Matt. Unfortunately for Evan, he has the wrong man.
Hank follows up with Andy at his workshop where Andy is practicing an escape. Andy's routine goes wrong and Hank has to rescue him from a locked crate. The EKG does not reveal any problems with Andy's heart. Hank thinks he may be suffering from an anxiety disorder. Andy is surprised that it affects his magic since he practices his routines intensely and always seems at ease in front of a big audience. Hank suggests tests on Andy's blood and recommends he not perform any more escapes until they know what is going on. Andy is not happy since he has a commitment later that evening to do an escape for some rich clients, but Hank is adamant.
Evan tries once more to find Matt Lauer and tracks him down in a store when Hank calls asking for their account number for the laboratory. When Evan hangs up on him, Jill wanders by and gives him the number, Hank apparently being the only one who doesn't know it. They talk about Evan's obsession with the Today show and Jill suggests they use some of her friends at a local theater group to play a prank on Evan and Hank readily agrees. As they are talking, Divya approaches in her hospital scrubs and Jill distracts Hank until she can disappear before he sees her. Divya is stopped by a Dr. Van Dyke who wants her to discharge an alcoholic patient, and Divya seems unhappy with the Van Dyke's cavalier attitude.
At the store, Evan is about to approach Matt when he is cornered by a saleslady. In his attempt to get away, Evan knocks over a piece of merchandise and damages it, to the distress of the saleslady.
Divya does her own examination on the alcoholic patient and makes a diagnosis. She determines his drinking has created excess fluid in the abdominal cavity and his liver has been damaged. She proceeds to drain the fluid herself without consulting any doctor when the duty nurse catches her. When she discovers Divya did not inform Dr. Van Dyke, she thinks Divya will be fired.
Hank returns to see Andy and tells him the blood tests reveal he has a thyroid problem, which can be treated in the short term with medication, but long term a simple surgery is required.
Evan returns home with the merchandise he damaged and Hank tells him that the Today show called, initiating the prank and Evan is extremely excited. Andy calls and says he is feeling much better, but Hank gets an insight that more is happening to Andy than he thought. He has Evan drive him to the home of the rich client that Andy is supposed to perform for.
Andy climbs into the crate where he is supposed to escape before the client runs over him in his car. Hank tries to stop the stunt but arrives too late. The stunt appears to go off flawlessly, with Andy escaping certain death when Hank notices Andy off to the side where he has collapsed, paralyzed.
Hank discovers that the thyroid problems combined with the diuretic Andy was taking caused low potassium and temporary paralysis. Andy is upset that his stunt did not go as planned and Hank is incredulous, saying to was terrific considering his physical state. Betty, a catering assistant comes up and congratulates Andy too, clearly smitten with him as Hank looks on, amused.
At Hamptons Heritage hospital, Divya is called to a room where Dr. Van Dyke is stitching a boy's eyebrow. The doctor explains that she messed up by not consulting him and that he did not miss the condition that Divya diagnosed. He then says that the laboratory tested the fluid Divya drained and found a secondary condition that threatened his life if untreated, so he was admitted to the hospital. He then takes her by complete surprise by inviting her to dinner, and giving her no chance to refuse.
Evan is shopping at the grocery when he bumps into Matt Lauer. Evan tells him how excited he and Hank are to appear on his show Friday when Matt tells him that no such interview is scheduled. When Matt complains that his Friday show is about turtles, Evan makes his pitch about HankMed and Matt is intrigued.
Jill meets with Boris and tells him what she remembers about the accident, including the German phrase. The phrase makes her think the accident was not an accident, and that Marissa was the target. Boris asks her what her therapist thinks of her theory, and Jill is taken by surprise that Boris knows she is being treated. Jill also reveals she informed the local police and Boris is clearly unhappy. Jill realizes she has wandered into Boris' private life and apologizes, but he is very magnanimous and wishes her well, saying he will inform his private security chief of her information. When Jill leaves he asks Dieter to find Marissa and the baby and his security chief. He is visibly troubled and he cannot control the muscles of his right hand.
Hank stops by to see Andy and hears noises coming from the crate again. He rushes to free Andy but Andy is not trapped and pops out easily. Hank hears another voice coming from the crate and suddenly Betty's head pops out of the crate too. Andy tells Hank that Betty is his new assistant and Hank recommends one of them stay outside the crate if their intent is safety.
At Hank and Evan's house, a television crew is preparing the living room along with Evan and Hank to appear on the Today show. Hank is impressed with the detail of the prank when suddenly the monitor comes on and shows Matt Lauer preparing for the interview. Hank is dumbfounded and Evan tells him he knows about the prank, but this is for real. The interview starts and Hank is sweating profusely, and has no idea what to say. When the interview is over, Hank is furious that Evan surprised him with a live nationwide interview, but the local director tells them the interview was not live but being taped for later use. She also mentions it was so bad it would probably never air. Evan is distraught that the interview went so bad but Hank is grateful that it will not be aired.
Later Hank and Evan talk about the train wreck interview and Hank reveals his fear of public speaking. It comes out that Hank never believes any of Evan's schemes, but Evan keeps proving him wrong. Hank is clear that he is happy with HankMed as it currently stands, but Evan points out he was happy sitting around his apartment in New York drinking beer after being fired too. It was Evan that keeps pushing him and Evan insists that he only wants HankMed to grow by one doctor to increase their service range. Just then they are interrupted by the local theater group who have arrived to pretend to be from the Today show. Hank and Evan look at each other and smile as the episode ends.
