After watching this, my mind thought of "The Cider House Rules" (a story that came 20 years afterward).
Thus, bold for such a story less than a decade after Roe v. Wade. My guess is the network bigwigs squashed drawing out the main issue of this episode -- say into two or three episodes; heaven forbid an unwed mother in "fly over" (yes, that's a more modern term) America!
This episode should have been called Peer Pressure Strikes Again.
