We don't consider soap a separate show type. It falls within the definition of scripted (http://www.tvmaze.com/faq/13/shows).

I can agree with the idea that "Soap" or "Soap Opera" could/should be added as a genre type.
Soap is implied with the daily and/or daytime runtime, isn't it ?
There are arguably evening soaps. Dynasty and Dallas are often considered soap operas, even in the evening. If the definition is, "Soaps only air during the day," then they're excluded.
The issue is how narrow or broad you want any classification to be.
