Actor Gallery Images

Whenever an image is added to a Character, it would be nice to see that image linked somehow in the gallery of the actor who played the role. There are a lot of actors in the database with no images at all, this would provide some kind of image for that actor without having to upload each image twice, once for the character, once for the actor.

As an example, I uploaded an image for this character (http://www.tvmaze.com/characters/316290/vice-princ...), but the actress who plays the role has no identifying image. (http://www.tvmaze.com/people/142075/erin-mccarthy)

My experience is that you rarely want the same picture for a character and the actor playing it, depending on the show ofc. But you as an example you probably don't want a picture from a costume drama as someone's main picture, etc.

Aidan is correct, character images should only represent the looks of a character in a special show, the main image is how the actor looks in real life :)

btw, I added a main picture for her :)

I am sorry, but the picture you added is Erin McCarthy the author ("USA Today Bestselling Romance Author of over sixty books"), and not the actress from "Vice Principals".

Easily confirmed by googling, or by simply compairing with the character pic. ;)

The problem is, if the only thing you have is the character image. Do you put in a character image as the actor image, or leave the actor image blank?

Or if the contributor only wants to take the time to add the character image rather than Google and search for an actor image, hoping one exists.

This was kind of my point. A character image is better than no image at all. If a "real life" image already exists, the character image is just added to the gallery, like part of their resume.

Good point. Well, no one said they had to be good suggestions! :)

I'd agree that you should provide an image of an actor that looks like the actor, rather than do it "automatically. Not a heavily made-up version of the actor, or an animated character that they just provide a voice for. Kevin Conroy doesn't look anything like an animated Bruce Wayne.

But most live-action photos of an actor in a role... look like the actor. Michael Dorn on Castle looks pretty much identical to Michael Dorn's publicity photo.
