Surprised me as well. Never thought, that it's possible, for NBC at least :)

They've shortened episode order almost twice, so that'll do :)
Had nothing to do with fan pressure, the license fee was cut. The show won't be on the fall schedule, though. Expect it sometime in the Spring of 2018 as it plugs holes left by other failed series'. The good news is it will give them a chance to wrap up their cliffhanger, so hopefully they learned and won't do that again!
