Roseanne

I have a question about the Roseanne entry. There is a confirmed 8 episode revival scheduled for 2018. But on the site page here, it says episode order 24. I was trying to see how to fix it and found that that was added to the final 9th season.

My question is how is that supposed to work? I would assume that episode order would either refer to current running season of a show, or to the upcoming season order if in between seasons. The way it looks now, I would think that the upcoming revival will consist of 24 episodes. Maybe that's just my own perception. But could this be clarified, please?

And while on the subject of revivals, why are some getting their own page (Gilmore Girls) and others get added to the original show (X-files, Roseanne)? Is this just based on how network is promoting it?

Season 9 is the last season known here, so that's what the episode order is linked to. If a season 10 were to be added, that would show up instead.

The rules you're looking for are over at http://www.tvmaze.com/faq/13/shows, under Continuations/reboots.

Gilmore Girls was given its own page as it had its own title, 'A Year in the Life'. Meanwhile X Files was promoted as Continuing series just like 'Will & Grace' and 'Twin Peaks' is. If 'Roseanne' is to be treated like a reboot with its own page, we won't know until further information is released by the network, same would go for 'American Idol' which may (due to the change in network) start again from season 1. All of this information is available in the data policies on the link available on every page

A continuation/reboot is a show with the same name and theme as a previously ended show. Depending on the circumstances, a continuation should be added as a whole new show entry, or as a new season on the existing show entry.

Only if all of the following are true, the continuation should be part of the existing show entry:

The new network/web channel refers to the show as a continuation The new network/web channel does not refer to the pilot as "season 1" At least one of the previous show's creators or executive producers is involved with the continuation At least one of the previous show's main cast members is starring in the continuation

In all other cases, a new show entry should be created.

The episode order thing I definitely agree with, it does look like it's returning for 24 episodes.

According to the upfront call yesterday, the new season is 8 episodes and is a continuation of the show from where it left off with all of the original cast (Including John Goodman). It looks like the episode order piece in our listing needs to be changed to 8 from 24.

ah sorry, now that I see that about revivals, I remember reading it.

As for the episode order, there has been a season 10 added (with correct order number) but no episodes added to it as obviously we don't have a date or episode title yet. So it will only switch over to that when episodes are added? Or when the Season begins aring? I just want to be sure I understand how that works. And for the record, if it is I think it might be a flaw that could be corrected in future. As it's confusing to the casual observer.
